Medals won by countries at the #Olympics and #Paralympics adjusted on #GDP per Capita and #population indicates that #China is significantly ahead in the #Paralympics, while the #USA is leading in the #Olympics. #India, on the other hand, is still far behind in both events. #Brazil and #Ukraine have achieved much better performance in the Paralympics as compare to Olympics. What do you think is the reason behind Brazil's and Ukraine's success in the Paralympics?

Last week, we all witnessed a moment of immense pride when Arshad Nadeem secured the gold medal in javelin at the Paris Olympics, breaking the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. This achievement is monumental, as it marks Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in four decades and our first-ever gold in an individual sport. While we celebrated Arshad’s hard-earned success (how many of us teared up when he won 🙋♂️), this victory should also serve as a critical reminder to our nation’s governing bodies. We should not have to wait decades for such moments of national pride. The talent is there—what’s missing is the infrastructure, support, and commitment to nurturing our athletes. #Pakistan once dominated in sports like squash, cricket, and hockey. Today, those glory days seem like a distant memory. The question we need to ask is: Where is the accountability? What are our sports authorities doing to ensure that athletes like Arshad Nadeem don’t remain a once-in-a-generation phenomenon? As we celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day tomorrow, let’s also reflect on our collective responsibility to build an environment where our sportsmen and women can thrive. It’s time to hold the relevant bodies accountable and demand consistent investment in our future champions. #Pakistan #IndependenceDay #ArshadNadeem #Paris #Olympics #Javelin #Sports #Athletics #SportsInPakistan #Accountability #champion

Italian boxer Angela Carini broke down in tears after her quick exit from the bout against Algerian Imane Khelif, which lasted only 46 seconds. The fight has ignited significant controversy due to Khelif's contentious eligibility. Carini, clearly distressed, abandoned the fight after a series of punishing blows from Khelif, which left her with a potential nose injury. She expressed her heartbreak and the difficult decision to stop the fight for her own health, despite her warrior spirit. The situation has sparked debate on various fronts: Eligibility: Khelif, along with Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan, was allowed to compete in the women's category despite previous disqualifications for failing gender eligibility tests at the women’s world championships. IOC Regulations: The IOC stands by its decision, stating that both Khelif and Lin have complied with their regulations, and their gender is confirmed based on passport documentation. Public Reaction: Notable figures, including Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and UN special rapporteur Reem Alsalem, have voiced their concerns regarding fairness and safety in women’s sports. The controversy continues to unfold as the boxing community and wider public react to the implications of this high-profile clash. #AngelaCarini #ImaneKhelif #OlympicBoxing #BoxingControversy #SportsDebate #IOC #GenderEligibility #AthleteSafety #WomenInSports #BoxingNews #Olympics2024 #SportsEthics #Thesocialtalks

🏃➡️ Paralympians have far greater challenges to overcome to compete at the Paralympics than most other athletes, so it is all the more unfair that the International Paralympic Committee allows men to self-identify in female competitions. 🎥 Good to join Danica De Giorgio on Sky News Australia to talk about why the rules need to change to restore fairness in female sporting competitions. #SaveWomensSports #Paralympics2024

I recently invited Olympian Lina Taylor, OLY to our Annual Advance to talk to the team about resiliency and how we can recover quickly from setbacks to achieve our goals in 2024. She shared how despite growing up in communist Bulgaria, she was able to transform her own circumstances, become a scientist, a two-time Olympian, and a successful entrepreneur in the U.S. We won’t all be competing in beach volleyball at the Olympic level, but thanks to Lina, we have concrete steps to create and chase our most ambitious dreams, no matter what comes our way. Thank you, Lina! You’re an inspiration. #resilience #olympian #inspiration

Spotlight on this initiative 🚨! Growing up in an environment as a young athlete , it was only a matter of channeling my focus in developing my performance abilities and skills as an athlete. The only dissected focus adapatations I experienced in those days was different types of trainings such as strength training, circuit training just to name a few. It serves well. However, as a young athlete, I am burning on testosterone, muscle growth is sporadic and adaptation is a lot more easier. The importance of nutrition and the application of nutrition practices is a crucial component to developing the young athlete for a number of reasons ; 1. The longevity of my career . Why ? Nutrition is the foundation of successful recovery by a number of practices that I wish I knew or atleast wish I was exposed to during those years. - due to inadequate trainings , or recovery periods at a young age as we step into adulthood our bodies experience adaptation at a different level. Following this progression as a young athlete, occurrences such as injuries deter the development and setbacks are often prolonged to support the physical wellbeling of the injury. - but none of this is highlighted in the aid of the application of sport nutrition and it’s fundemental influences on recovery. Even though this post is an act of mindfulness handed to players to know and see what they physically are consuming, such activities allow athletes to appreciate what they consume and understand what they are consuming. The next step is only to fulfill their knowledge on how and when nutrition practices should be applied! #longercareer #healthyandyoung Good for you and your foundation Bernd SteinhageYoung Bafana Soccer

Great message about performance in the share below. There is a difference between wanting something and needing it. There are helathy and unhealthy elements to needing something. It is great to set out sights on goals and to want to achieve them. But it is not great if we absolutey need to achieve that thing weset our sights on, and for our own mental health to be dependant on it. Unhealthy needs are those that place uncessary pressure on achieving a goal, when if you fail, the consequences to your attitide when assessing your performance become unbearable. Rather drive yourself to reach for the stars, but enjoy the execution, and don't want it so much that you no longer can act effectively in the face of the pressure. High performers are able to step up a gear when the pressure is on, by navigating those pressure situations more effectively. It can be improved with practice, but most importantly, that happens when the enjoyment outweighs the pressure. Let there be self-love, self appreciation no matter the result And failure is not failure, it is an opportunity to reflect on what could be done differently next time. That for me is the definition of resilience... Thanks for sharing Gregory Bayne #resilience #grit #success #mentalhealth #selflove #learnfromfailure #embrace success #highperformance #
