1/ Dear Sir I am writing to you with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for immediate assistance and protection for my children, who are registered refugees under UNHCR since 2019. As a political refugee, I fled Ethiopia due to severe security concerns and lack of protection, after being detained by Ethiopian national security agents. My children, who are survivors of human trafficking, have been living in a precarious situation without any assistance or protection from UNHCR since their registration. Despite multiple appeals for support, our requests have remained unaddressed, leaving my children vulnerable and deprived of their right to safety and education. It has been over nine months since UNICEF Egypt referred my case to UNHCR, but I have yet to receive any response. This prolonged silence and inaction have exacerbated our already dire situation. My children are no longer attending school, which is detrimental to their mental and emotional well-being. The trauma they have endured, coupled with the lack of stability and support, is having a severe impact on their development and future prospects.

2/ Our repeated requests for immediate assistance and protection have been ignored.Failure to Protect and Support Trafficking Survivors: My children have not received the necessary support to overcome their trauma and have not been effectively protected.Lack of Follow-Up and Continuous Support: No follow-up or continuous support has been provided since our registration in 2019.Damages Suffered:The failures of UNHCR have resulted in severe and irreparable consequences for my children and me, including:Physical Damages: I have been attacked multiple times in Ethiopia, including assassination attempts. My wife, six months pregnant, was violently assaulted, and my six-year-old daughter was partially paralyzed and cannot walk due to the lack of assistance. As survivors of human trafficking, my children have been subjected to various forms of violence, as evidenced by the photos I have submitted.Psychological Damages: My children and I suffer from stress, anxiety, and exacerbated trauma due to the lack of support.Material Damages: We have incurred significant material and financial losses due to the lack of protection and assistance.

3/ Educational Damages: My children have been deprived of their right to education, severely affecting their development and future.Request for Compensation:In light of the facts and the damages suffered, I formally request that UNHCR:Acknowledge its responsibility in this situation and issue a formal apology for failing to fulfill its duties.Immediately implement necessary measures to ensure our protection and well-being.Provide financial compensation to cover the material losses and psychological damages suffered, totaling an estimated $45,000,000 (forty-five million US dollars).I reserve the right to take this matter to the appropriate legal authorities if a satisfactory response is not provided within a reasonable timeframe. Better pay attention to your agency in Iran as well. There’s no one to address refugees problems and questions. The number provided is always on reply and the guards at the gate always ask people to get an appointment online which is not possible. Anyway to get in touch with someone with authority inside the agency in Iran?!

I contacted the United Nations in Riyadh and they hung up the phone in our faces. I sent to you and no one responded. What is the solution, sir, until we start resettlement?
