Defense tech (tech supporting defense) will increasingly be a target for attack - either as target for sabotage by state actors or direct attack by terror groups - as geopolitical tensions escalate. Turkey's PKK insurgency or Islamic State are likely perpetrators (the former being the most plausible) This incident underscores one of my recent postings and hypothesis: "If a state or terror group is unable to overcome the technological advantages of a superior adversary, such actors may be prompted to escalate attacks on their opponents technological bases and supply chain to level the long-term conflict or facilitate a high-profile strike." For Turkey watchers, certainly an interesting development that raises the question of the trajectory of the PKK's or Islamic State's future strategy. #intelligence #corporateintelligence #defenseindustry #technology https://lnkd.in/gEMxiQqT

Is this now a potential shift in the Middle East Crisis, as reports of terror attack at a 'Space & Defence' company (TUSAS Facilities) in Ankara are evolving, with a number of fatalities? If not already, can we start to expect to see increased threats, and possible attacks on defence companies in the West? #potentialshift #middleeast #crisis #middleeastcrisis #terrorattack #spaceanddefence #tusas #ankara #turkey #fatalities #incresedthreats #west

An interesting read. How much did Iran learn from Praying Mantis and how has that been built into their whole planning has been an item have often wondered. It is not just a look at action -- but a look at the goals of an action that make this a good read. The current US efforts took a strategic offensive using tactical targets and failed to use effective information warfare in making it a message that was strategic -- and disagree with the author - for everything is on the table and nothing is taken off when sending a message. If one understands that the kinetic is in support of the message --- and not the message - then one can do far more like Praying Mantis yelded. https://lnkd.in/e3BpeHVM

#UNFIL please clarify: 👉 #IDF spokesperson says there have been 25 Hezbollah launches from positions near #UNIFIL posts at Israeli communities and IDF troops in the last month. Can't be, right? 👉 #Hezbollah operates from underground and above-ground compounds, using them to launch attacks on #Israel. During limited #IDF ground raids, the 146th Division discovered hundreds of weapons, including firearms, grenades, and rocket launchers aimed at Israeli territory. These weapons were found in underground sites just meters away from #UNIFIL posts near the #BlueLine. Can't be, right? #UNIFIL, established to implement #UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and prevent #Hezbollah 's armed presence south of the #Litani River, has been successful in stopping these activities, that's correct, right? And last but not least: 👉 #UNFIL this can't possibly one of your tanks, right?

Iranian X account: “2:00” Is Iran going to attack Israel at 2:00AM tonight? “when your going to shoot, shoot don't talk” So what are the indications that an attack by Iran and Hezbollah is probably imminent? We'll go into detail immediately, but first we'll note that the panic in Beirut tonight is many times greater than in Tel Aviv, and rightly so. An attack by the Shia axis will encounter the best air defense system in the world, reinforced by an unprecedented coalition of intercepts, and hitting civilian targets in Israel will lead to a disproportionate response against Iran and Lebanon. And now, for the indications: 1. In the last day, American intelligence has located the preparations of the missile arrays (and possibly also the UAVs) in Iran that are similar to the preparations before the attack on the night of April 14. 2. The IDF located similar preparations by Hezbollah in Lebanon. 3. Hizbollah evacuated its headquarters and offices from the Da'ahiya area. 4. Ali Khamenei visited a mosque of symbolic importance in Iran, to which it is customary to make a pilgrimage before fateful moments. 5. Senior officials in Iran re-increased their statements regarding the expected response. 6. 9th of Av, the day of the destruction of the Temple, a symbolic date that may "seduce" the Iranians and Nasrallah. 7. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the US shares Israel's assessment that the attack by Iran and its allies may be launched this week. On the other hand, there are reports that the American mediator Amos Hochstein is on his way to Lebanon, which may delay the attack for a day or two. (Tamir Moorg) Hamas Psychological Warfare In the last few minutes, the terrorist organization Hamas has distributed a publication on Telegram that includes a written message in which it claims that in two separate incidents a hostage was killed and two hostages were injured by Hamas operatives. At this point, we do not have any intelligence support that allows us to refute or confirm the claims of Hamas. We continue to check and find out the reliability of the message and will update as soon as possible with any information we have. Let’s all pray for Israel 🇮🇱🙏💙🇮🇱💙🙏

Resisting Russian information warfare: Lessons from Ukraine Chatham House 31 Jan 2024 Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine has tested its doctrine and capabilities for engaging in cyber and information warfare. Just as in the conventional campaign, widespread expectations for a swift and crushing Russian victory were misplaced. A combination of thorough preparation, international government and corporate support, and strong participation from civil society has ensured Ukrainian resilience in the cyber and information domains. Given that many democracies have been affected by cyber and information warfare, this expert panel will explore and what lessons can be drawn by other countries from the successful Ukrainian defence to be become more resilient and better prevent election interference. Questions to be discussed include: How can democracies better protect elections from malign interference? Drawing from Chatham House recent research paper, what key lessons can countries take from the cyber and information war on Ukraine, and how can they be applied? By contrast, which Ukrainian successes are not transferrable, because they are specific to this conflict? What new issues have arisen as a result of private sector engagement? What pre-emptive steps can other states take in order to set conditions for success in cyber and information defence?

Former Director, Office of International Affairs at Federal Trade Commission; Board of Directors, Washington, DC Region, American Jewish Committee
The chart below shows the breakdown of the over 30,000 rockets, missiles, and drones fired at Israeli cities, villages, farms, and citizens by Iran and its terrorist proxies at Israel since the October 7, 2023 massacres. Add to that the Iranian / terrorist front known as the West Bank, from which Palestinians have engaged in a killing spree since the Jewish High Holidays. Today's edition was the murder by Muhammad Dardouna, a 28 year old who infiltrated from the West Bank to kill First Sgt. Adir Kodosh, a 33-year-old police officer who planned to get married in November, while injuring four others. This adds to the recent string of deadly shooting and stabbing attacks in Jaffa, Beersheba, and Hadera. No country should or would tolerate any of this, particularly if its enemies were on its borders, hell-bent on destroying the nation and exterminating its people. The US must stand strong with Israel against these enemies of Israel, United States, and the civilized world.

1moSupply chain risk and resiliency is a topic that will gain momentum and importance moving forward. It would still be a Sisyphean task regardless.
