It’s a wrap after two incredible days at the World Sustainability Congress organized by the Sustainability Leaders | A World 50 Group Community exploring what organizations can do to accelerate their true transformation in the value chain. Really enjoyed the rich discussions with CSOs and CPOs sparking fresh perspectives and offered actionable strategies to tackle today’s sustainability challenges during the CSO Roundtable hosted by EY which I had the privilege to co-moderated with Joost Vreeswijk and Linn Anker-Sørensen. The discussions were packed with invaluable insights and key takeaways, including: 🟢 Rebaselining - the pathway 2030 is challenging and constantly impacted 🟢 Governance - Leadership and sponsorship C-suite 🟢 Scope 3 - the elephant in the room, quick wins for scope 1&2 achieved, what’s next. 🟢 Product re-design 🟢 Data being the “new currency” 🟢 Geopolitics - change and disruption being the new constant 🟢 Regulation and green claims legislation impacting the business case for transformation 🟢 Compliance and reporting challenges 🟢 Predictability premium - trust from the financial markets and confidence to act. The ESG are trending to new heights. Yet still many people outside the finance and corporate world know little about this complexed concept. The complexity of ESG concepts and how its being disseminated makes it less accessible to the average person. Discussions often occur in investment circles, corporate meetings, or among policymakers, which may not reach the general public. I had a fantastic time at the KPMG and Aldersgate Group Leaders 2050 event, where I gained valuable insights from the thought-provoking discussions with panelists from various industries on driving sustainable policy 🌎 I also connected with other like-minded young professionals from diverse backgrounds, all passionate about advancing sustainability and achieving a net-zero future🌳☀ Here are some of my key takeaways from the event: - Green skills are not just ‘tomorrow skills’ but essential ‘today skills’. - It’s crucial to bridge the gap between traditional education, which often focuses on a fossil fuel-reliant world, and the new sustainable paradigms. - Organizations must strategically invest in a sustainable future.
