“Our centres in the UK are located in one of the most diverse cities in the world and we want to reflect that.” That was our UK Chief Operating Officer Scott Parsons speaking recently to CoStar News. At the culmination of last month’s Pride celebrations, Scott spoke about diversity and inclusion, and how our teams work to ensure everyone has a place and a voice at URW UK and in our shopping centres, including the LGBTQ+ community, people from all backgrounds, and those living with a disability. A commitment that is shared by all URW team members Group-wide, and at the heart of our Diversity & Inclusion approach – Be You at URW. To Scott, who is currently the co-chair of Freehold LGBT+ CIC, the networking and support forum for the UK real estate industry’s LGBTQ+ community, it’s all about three things: diversity, similarity and visibility. 👉 You can read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/ejXDn_9Q 👉Learn more about Pride 2024 initiatives at our destinations here: https://lnkd.in/eicDNijV #ReinventBeingTogether #BetterPlaces #Pride2024 Sylvain Montcouquiol Christi Karandikar Alexandra Hoskins Ciara Solmi

Together, we can transform our collective wisdom into action, fostering a more inclusive, understanding, and effective world. ID: Quote from Pat Wadors, Chief People Officer UKC. 🌟 Inspiring Equality in Leadership: Dorothy Raffel's Legacy 🌟 As we navigate the complexities of our modern workplace, the story of Dorothy Raffel, a trailblazing leader, resonates deeply with the ongoing struggle for equality that many women executives and marketers face today. Dorothy Raffel's career is a testament to resilience and determination. Despite the myriad challenges often skewed towards men in her time, she carved a niche for herself and demonstrated that leadership knows no gender. Her journey is a personal victory and a beacon for all women striving to shatter glass ceilings in corporate corridors. Today, more than ever, her legacy compels us to reflect on our actions and the structures within our organizations. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity and diversity in leadership roles. Strengthening Leaders & Organizations Through DEI, Emotional Intelligence, & Intercultural Competence
Let me tell you a story about Maya, a DEIJ coordinator passionate about making a real difference in her workplace. She noticed something unsettling: despite good intentions, their DEIJ initiatives were missing the mark. They were overlooking the complex layers of identity that make each person's experience unique—what's known as intersectionality. Determined to shift this narrative, Maya embarked on a three-step mission: Educate, Listen, and Review. She organized workshops to unwrap the concept of intersectionality, highlighting the intertwined nature of our identities. Then, she established open forums, safe havens where everyone's stories, especially those often unheard, could be shared and valued. Finally, she scrutinized company policies through an intersectional lens, ensuring they catered to everyone, especially the most marginalized. The outcome? A workplace that truly understands and embraces the full spectrum of human diversity, creating a more inclusive, supportive environment for all. Maya showed us that with the right focus, real change is possible. https://lnkd.in/gJTiZXu7 . . . #Intersectionality #IntersectionalFeminism #InclusiveSociety #DiverseVoices #SocialJustice #EquityAndInclusion #InclusiveActivism

No matter how many times we say First Peoples First or update our Diversity Access and Inclusion Plans, if we don’t walk the talk around cultural safety, our organisations will continue to re-center whiteness and white privilege.
