🇭🇹 Distress over renewed clashes in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area has led to extensive population displacement, creating a pressing need for humanitarian assistance. Despite this difficult situation, hope for a better future persists. UNICEF and partners are addressing immediate needs of affected populations, including access to water, sanitation, healthcare, nutrition, education, and protection of children and their families, through hygiene kits and water supply facilities. The Price for Israel's "Right to Self-Defense" According to Save the Children, a US-based NGO, the number of children killed in Gaza since October 7th "has surpassed the annual average number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019"! We are not speaking numbers here, we are speaking lives! The young lives lost in three weeks is more than the annual average of children killed all over the world in 20 conflict zones. Do you still think that Israel is exercising a legitmate right to self-defense? What kind of self-defense justfies the use of airstrikes as well as ground and sea fire in densely poulated areas? What kind of self-defense justifies ordering civilians to evacuate amid airstrikes to the south of Gaza, just to bombard them on their way south? Even the survivors who made it to the south were not spared the killing. Airstrkes continue in south of Gaza. No place is safe in Gaza! The deteriorating situation in Haiti is quite grim, but with help arriving from World Central Kitchen, we know that hope is on the horizon. 🇭🇹 Who funds the gangs in #Haiti, and what are their goals? Why hasn't more international humanitarian support been dispatched to Haiti? What led to this crisis? How can we support Haitian refugees? This week, we'll examine those questions and provide information on which #HumanRights and #HumanitarianAid NGOs to support. 💗 Spoiler alert: #WorldCentralKitchen is definitely on that list!
World Central Kitchen and our partners on the ground in Haiti served our first plates of food to people impacted by ongoing unrest just over a week ago. Since then, we have established a network of kitchens to support displaced families and other vulnerable populations impacted by the violence that has gripped the nation. Alongside Hôpital Albert Schweitzer and Health through Walls, we have provided more than 50,000 meals. Read more about our efforts: https://lnkd.in/e_Fu9ZUa

I joined Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) today for a timely discussion on the humanitarian crisis in Haiti. Despite the staggering levels of need, this crisis is not getting the attention it deserves. The first quarter of 2024 has been the most violent period for children in Haiti on record. Violence has also driven children into armed groups with up to half of all members in the country estimated to be children. As the UN-backed Multi-State Security Support Mission arrives in Haiti this week, children could face new dangers unless robust child protection measures are in place. The number of children reported killed in Gaza in just three weeks has surpassed the annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019, Save the Children said. Since October 7, more than 3,257 children have been reported killed, including at least 3,195 in Gaza, 33 in the West Bank, and 29 in Israel, according to the Ministries of Health in Gaza and Israel respectively. The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years.

I have to be honest. "The Unprotected: Overview of the Impact of Humanitarian Crises on Children in 2023." is not for the faint hearted. 2023 was a particularly difficult year for #ChildProtection in humanitarian contexts. It’s hard to even process that 1 in 5 children globally is in, or is fleeing conflict zones, contributing to the unprecedented levels of forced displacement, with children making up 41% of all displaced people. Fortunately, the report also identifies three strategic priority areas for 2024: investment in the social service workforce, prioritizing harm prevention, and fostering collaboration across sectors and the humanitarian system. Many thanks to the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action not only for sharing this vision but also for the practical recommendations on pressing actions for a variety of stakeholders.
In the face of unprecedented grave violations against children, let's unite to take ACTION! 🤝 Explore the Unprotected: A critical look at how humanitarian crises impacted children in 2023. The Alliance is sounding the alarm - armed conflicts, climate emergencies, and forced displacement have taken a toll on children's rights. 😢💔 🌟 As we step into 2024, let's make a collective promise to prioritise and PROTECT the rights of every child, ensuring their safety BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER crises. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/giJn5xrU #Unprotected #ChildreninCrises #ChildProtection #HumanitarianAction

How can be controversial opposing this? How can be labeled “anti-semitist” opposing this? 3,195 killed in Gaza, more than 1,000 under the rubble. The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years. https://lnkd.in/dFih2rUU

The situation in #Gaza is critical, with hospitals on the brink of running out of power and fuel.
