American Fork, UT— June 7, 2024 — After four years of protracted litigation from Really Right Stuff, Field Optics Research announces that on May 31, 2024, the U.S. District Court ruled, via Summary Judgement, that based on “obviousness” and “prior art”, ALL of the RRS patent claims are ruled: “invalid”. Court Decision On June 2, 2020, (“RRS”) filed four patent infringement lawsuits in the U.S. District Court and asserted that various FORI products infringed 30 claims of three RRS’s patents: U.S. Pat. No. 6,772,172 (“QUICK-RELEASE CLAMP FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT”), U.S. Pat. No.10,612,718 (“DUAL CLAMPING DEVICE”); and U.S. Pat. No. 10,585,337 (“PANORAMIC CAMERA MOUNT”). On June 3, 2024, the court decided that not only did we win, the Court ruled that RRS patent claims were faulty and invalid, and stated specifically that: “No reasonable jury could conclude otherwise” and that “no expert testimony” was necessary to make this decision. read it all here: https://lnkd.in/gqR3h-K9

Under the USPTO’s newly-clarified guidance of the status quo, for a computer-generated electronic image to be afforded protection under Section 171 the computer-generated electronic image must be: “an integral and active component in the operation of a computer” and be embodied on or in a display panel. Michael Sanko discusses the new clarified guidance and how it affects “disembodied” designs that are not tied to a physical article of manufacture such as holograms or virtual reality. #GUIdesigns #uspto #designpatents #GUI https://bit.ly/3veo6PG

The identity for this edition of Digital Cultures stems from thinking about representing the theme of ‘Seamless technologies’. The process of looking through the technology at the world but not seeing it itself led us to pick the concept of transparency. In the direct meaning of transparency, we used glass layers to create the main key visual, the glass Ouroboros. To complement this, we used blurred and diffracted graphics to further emphasize the undetectability of tech.

#DocumentAccessibility #PDFAccessibility and Remediation Experts and developers came up with assistive technologies that make every one of us to navigate documents and perceive information as everyone else can, they came up with the idea of adding alt text to graphics which has seen the virtual impaired and the blind grab what exactly the graphic entails, Question of the day, Do your graphics have an alt text, or maybe you have assumed that everyone should find his/her means to get what you are trying to portray?

After Effects launched an update yesterday that I'm surprised more people aren't talking about. It has the ability to import 3D objects natively (in GLB, GLTF formats), among other things. OBJ import is in beta. (h/t School of Motion Newsletter). For a quick test, I output a model I created in Spline (the online 3D software - Patata folks will recognize it) and brought it into AE. I just set a camera and a light and it just worked. Rendered Spline image on the left, AE on the right.
