[Unilever Future Leaders' League 2024] Being selected as a Top 30 Finalist for the Unilever Future Leaders' League was an incredible honor. The program pushed me to new heights, both personally and professionally. Marketing case studies were new to me. As a finalist, I dove into complex challenges with a diverse group. Navigating our differences and learning to communicate effectively was a challenge. It demanded collaboration, creativity, and compromise to tackle marketing complexities together. Of course, this experience wouldn't have been the same without my amazing teammates, Atsalabi Dimas Fadillah and Larisa S. As the only 3rd year student in the team, the learnings I gained from them are invaluable. While we may not have clinched first place, for me, the real win lies in the connections I made and the irreplaceable knowledge and new skills I gained, both from the facilitators and the 29 incredible finalists. Also, the judges' feedback for me and my team was like a toolbox full of new skills, helping me refine my public speaking, analytical thinking, and teamwork skills. Huge thanks to Unilever for creating this amazing platform that pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened new doors. Honestly, when I first saw the UFLL application, a part of me hesitated. Did I have what it takes? But the "what if?" won, and it was the best decision ever. Little did I know, this program would transform me from a curious learner to a passionate leader. Unilever Pakistan hosted a 'Dare to Lead' session with the primary goal of empowering participants and offering career guidance. The event featured segments with Musharaf Hai, former CEO of Unilever Pakistan, and Maheen Rahman, CEO of Infra Zamin, both prominent female leaders in Pakistan. They discussed the importance of encouraging women to excel in the workplace and break stereotypes. The session concluded with insights from our Human Resources Director, Fathema Zuberi, who highlighted the organisation's efforts in supporting women to identify and pursue their career goals. LUCIA KURI's work at Mars Wrigley is a masterclass in how to do DE&I right on a global scale. I had the privilege of facilitating a 3-days bootcamp as part of PepsiCo APAC Talent Academy - Cohort 3, in Shanghai a few days ago. The program covered the following topics: - #Strategy and #Transformation - #Digital and #Innovation - #Leadership Participants from this cohort had the opportunity of getting together for this part of the program. Previous cohorts were not as lucky, given the circumstances of the previous years. The energy from the participants, their willingness to actively engage in the #CaseStudy and #Simulation discussions, and their ability to let themselves go and have some fun was inspiring and my own source of energy. I can't ignore the fact that while I was running the first day of the bootcamp, the Colombian National Football team (I am Colombian!) was playing the Copa America Final against the Argentinian National team...and of course there was an Argentinian participant, Pablo Garibaldi. Even though he got to know first that his national team had won, he kept composed...until I saw the news online...and I had to do the honorable thing...I shook his hand and congratulated him...but deep down, I felt like crying...hehehe. Anyway, life goes on, and I want to wish all the very best to all the participants from this cohort in their leadership journey.
