🚰 A tenant calls in a panic—no water! 🚰 Water outages can bring everything to a standstill. Whether it’s a burst pipe or a city-wide issue, it’s critical to react fast. Check with local authorities to confirm if the issue is widespread or isolated to your property. For isolated issues, dispatch your emergency plumber immediately to restore water flow. For wider outages, communicate with tenants about how long the disruption is expected to last. Providing bottled water or temporary solutions for hygiene can go a long way in keeping tenants comfortable. #WaterOutage #PlumbingEmergency #PropertyManagement #TenantCare

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have highlighted the importance of checking if your hot water bottle is safe to use. Each year in the UK, hundreds of people are injured by hot water bottles, with incidents ranging from mild to severe burns. Recent data indicates that in just the first six months of 2023, 99 serious burn injuries from hot water bottles were treated in major burns units, up from 68 in the same period in 2022. This figure excludes less severe injuries managed in A&E departments, suggesting the total number is significantly higher. The increase in injuries is linked to cost-of-living pressures, with more people relying on hot water bottles for warmth instead of central heating. Hot water bottles typically have a lifespan of about two years. Do you know how to check when yours will expire? Here's a quick and easy way to find out: Look for the 'Flower Wheel' or 'Daisy Wheel' on the funnel or neck of your hot water bottle. This will show you the manufacturing date. How to Read It: The number in the center of the wheel indicates the year it was made (e.g., ‘20’ means 2020). The 12 petals around the wheel represent the months of the year. The dots in each petal represent the weeks of that month. For example, 3 dots in the fifth petal means it was made in the third week of May. If your hot water bottle is more than two years old from the manufacturing date, it is at risk of leaking or bursting. For your safety, it's time to replace it!

🔥 Take 10 minutes out of your day to complete the online Home Fire Safety Check 🏡 This week is #FireSafety week in Northern Ireland and NI Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has launched its new online Home Fire Safety Check. Last year, NIFRS attended 728 house fires with cooking and electricity supply being the biggest causes. The online Home Fire Safety Check is an easy-to-follow self-assessment involving answering a series of questions about each room in the home. Once this is completed, users will receive a personalised fire action plan identifying the potential causes of fire in the home with safety advice to help reduce the risk of fire. Pay close attention to tumble dryers, extension leads, and device chargers within your house. The online tool has been developed through a partnership between the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and Safelincs and has been made available to Fire & Rescue Services across the UK. Well done to all involved. To complete the assessment click here: https://lnkd.in/ee7YT7xb #firesafety #homesafety #protection #lifesafety

Cleaning up after a storm or flood is a big job. Be cautious and wear protective clothing, including long pants, boots, and work gloves. Watch out for debris, and avoid fallen power lines, poles and wires. Practice these safety precautions as you being to clean up: ⚠️ Stay away from floodwaters which may contain sewage, sharp items, bacteria and chemicals that can make you sick. ⚠️ Don’t touch electrical equipment if its wet or if you’re standing in water. ⚠️ Flooding can contaminate drinking water. Follow the advice of local public health officials to protect yourself. ⚠️ Throw out food that got wet or warm. When in doubt, throw it out! ⚠️ If your home was flooded, completely dry your home and everything in it as quickly as possible to help prevent mold. ⚠️ Keep wet areas well-ventilated and throw away wet materials that can’t be repaired or dried.
