Director. Consultant. Women’s Football ⚽️ IT Services 💻 Strategic thinking 💡Strong network⚽️ Making Women’s Football Better ❤️
Good to see Gerry Britton getting a bit of down time. 😊 It’s becoming more and more obvious that the way ahead is fans in the stadium vicinty early and keeping them there spending money. For the women’s game in Scotland, lack of appropriate stadia is a massive barrier to innovation and growth. Often, grounds are holding multiple games, so it gives clubs a very limited window to commercialise matches and provide a good fan experience. Those grounds that are single use are either poorly located or there’s a lack of equity around which parts of the grounds that can be used. It’s a complicated problem. That said, there’s a lot of hard work going in to make the best of what we have. Fortunately, the top 5 clubs work well together. Of course there’s competition and self interest but there is also genuine willingness to try and get a good outcome for everyone. Co-operation amongst clubs is the only way ahead. It’s also a good opportunity to do things completely differently from the men’s game.
A wonderful matchday experience at 1. FC Union Berlin v Atalanta at the weekend. Reliable, inexpensive and plentiful public transport, well stocked food and drink concessions and conscientious staff, means the fans are in the stadium footprint for hours pre and post match. The sale of quality beer in copious amounts also helps 🍻. Between the train station and the stadium there were three fan zones to congregate, enjoy food/beer then continue on your way. 3 sides of the stadium being terracing helps create a brilliant atmosphere. And a competitive, high scoring, highly technical match made for the perfect blueprint for a Saturday afternoon 🇩🇪👏⚽️ Gerry McGuigan

Love those random YouTube clips! My family got hooked on 1980s dart championship videos, and voila, we got ourselves a Kmart dartboard. Now, I won't claim dart champion status just yet; my aim needs work. Recently, I've been talking to Aussie allied health workforce experts. Whilst grateful for state government support with study incentives and recruitment packages, but they're worried about tackling complex workforce and service capacity issues with simple fixes. Let's face it; complexity isn't our BFF. Simplifying complex problems feels great, but here's the twist. Rushing to simplify without seeing the whole picture can lead to solutions that miss the mark long-term. Jim Collins suggests the "bullets, then cannonballs" approach – start small with low-risk initiatives (bullets) to fine-tune your aim. Once you've nailed it, go big (cannonballs) for impressive results. So if you are ready to tackle your complex challenges, consider these steps: 1. Understand the big picture first – no shortcuts! 2. Pick key pathways through the chaos – your contenders. 3. Dive in with targeted initiatives. 4. Once you spot the winners, level up! 💥 Ready for a Big Fish (look it up 🤓)?!
