♻️ Driving Sustainability Through Recycling: Ontario’s Blue Box Program 🌍 The Blue Box Program in Ontario is a cornerstone of our efforts to build a more sustainable future. By making it easy for households to recycle paper, plastics, glass, and metals, this program has been pivotal in reducing waste sent to landfills. Here’s what makes the Blue Box Program stand out: ✅ Curbside Convenience: Residents simply place recyclables in blue bins for collection. ✅ Producer Responsibility: Under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016, the program transitioned to an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model. This means producers now fund and manage recycling efforts, taking accountability for the full lifecycle of their products. ✅ Environmental Impact: By promoting recycling, the program conserves resources, reduces landfill waste, and minimizes environmental harm. The shift to EPR ensures that producers play a direct role in creating a circular economy. It’s not just about recycling—it’s about designing for sustainability and rethinking waste management. Let’s celebrate this collective effort toward a greener Ontario and explore how producer-led initiatives can lead to a more sustainable world. 🌱 For more details, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gWSd7Xgv #Sustainability #Recycling #CircularEconomy #BlueBoxProgram #Ontario #WasteManagement #EnvironmentalResponsibility #GreenLiving #EcoFriendly #ZeroWaste #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture #ResponsibleProduction #CleanEnvironment #ExtendedProducerResponsibility #GoGreen

🌟 Amazing offer for small/medium businesses that regularly produce a lot of cardboard! 🌟 Restaurants and shops regularly produce a lot of cardboard waste. Unfortunately, if that cardboard goes in a mixed recycling bin. there is no guarantee that cardboard will ever get recycled. That's because contaminated cardboard often goes to landfill. However, with a dedicated cardboard bin, you can be sure your cardboard isn't getting contaminated by other materials and therefore is much more Likely to get recycled. This offer is ideal for businesses that want to make a big environmental impact on a small budget. #recycling #recycle #cardboardrecycling #enviromentalimpact #ecofriendlybusiness

Reflection Friday! #RecyclingWeek2024 On Reflection Friday, we reflect on the lessons learned from the week. We consider our individual and collective waste footprints and make active commitments to reducing them through pledges, setting goals, or objectives. One such goal could be to start recycling batteries. Batteries power our lives but can harm the environment if not disposed of properly. Our battery recycling service recycles over 20 subtypes of domestic, commercial, and industrial batteries. From household batteries to industrial units, we ensure safe and efficient processing. To date, we have recycled an impressive 393,317 kgs of other waste batteries! Phoenix services over one hundred collection points throughout New Zealand and accepts batteries at our yards, making battery recycling easy for Kiwis! For more information on the types of batteries we can recycle, and how we recycle them, check out our batteries page here: Phoenix Recycling https://lnkd.in/gHQ-ebSx #RecyclingWeek24 #SayNoToWaste #WasteMinimisation #ReflectionFriday https://lnkd.in/gMdZEhp6

Take off the lids before throwing the jars in the glass container. The lids should go in the recycling container. In principle, modern glass processing plants can sort out these closures and subsequently recycle them, but this also requires higher energy consumption. Therefore, it is better to separate them beforehand. If in doubt, however, it is better to leave the lids on the waste glass when disposing of it instead of placing them next to or on top of the glass container. From there, they surely will not be recycled, but they will pollute the environment. We think #recycling is very important. Sometimes, it’s hard to decide where your waste should go, which action is the best, and where to recycle specific things. So we collected some recycling tips. #CabkaRecyclingTips #SocialResponsibility #CircularEconomy #environment

Did you know glass can be recycled endlessly without losing quality or purity? Or that recycling a single aluminium can saves enough energy to power a TV for up to three hours? The benefits of recycling are often overlooked due to convenience and lack of awareness. Almost 30% of the waste we throw away could be recycled instead! At Wixroyd, we’re making a conscious effort to evaluate our waste and ensure we’re recycling whenever possible. We’re proud to share we have recycled 63.2% of our waste this year - and that’s not including the metal we scrap for reuse. Plus, 0% of our waste goes to landfill. We’re committed to keeping up the effort to recycle even more for a greener future. #RecycleWeek #RecycleNow #RescueMe #Sustainability

Want to know the Recycling Council of Alberta Board’s 2025 Circular Resolutions? At our recent Board meeting, we discussed “Circular Resolutions” for 2025, highlighting how intentional actions, big and small, can drive meaningful change. Each Board member shared a commitment they pledged to undertake in 2025 either personally or professionally or both. These resolutions reflect practical ways to embrace and advance circularity. The list is impressive, and we noticed some themes: ➡️ Buying Better ▪️Commit to buying durable, high-quality items to reduce waste (e.g., avoid disposable products like cheap Teflon pans). ▪️Be a mindful consumer, especially during the holiday season. ▪️Choose products with less or recyclable packaging to reduce non-recyclable waste. ➡️ Buying and Consuming Less ▪️Reduce online shopping to limit Styrofoam (EPS) waste. ▪️Conserve resources by adopting habits like using greywater (e.g., dishwater for gardens) to save energy and water. ▪️Aim to downsize waste bins by reducing overall consumption. ➡️ Influencing Change ▪️Develop circular solutions for materials like gypsum and concrete. ▪️Explore better end markets for challenging materials such as vinyl siding. ▪️Collaborate with First Nations communities to launch impactful waste management practices. ▪️Support clients and communities as they transition to a circular economy through education and resource sharing. What’s your circular resolution for 2025?
