The Asian Productivity Organization (APO), in coordination with the Singapore Productivity Centre, is now accepting candidates for participants to the Workshop on Innovative Transformation for Lifestyles and Service Sectors, to be implemented on 23–25 April 2024 via Virtual Session. The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant changes in the lifestyle and service sectors, including remote work, social distancing, and altered business hours. These trends will likely persist post-pandemic. It has thus become imperative for the sectors to elevate both managerial and employee skills, reimagine business models, and boost productivity, particularly through the integration and adoption of digital technologies. The introduction of innovative digital transformation strategies presents opportunities for the lifestyle and service sectors. These technologies not only enhance customer engagement and streamline operations but also facilitate the development of novel products and the expansion of market reach. In a fast-paced, fiercely competitive business landscape, embracing digital transformation is not merely a choice but a necessity for sustained growth and success in the dynamic lifestyle and service sectors. The workshop aims to understand innovative transformation and its multifaceted components for productivity improvement; examine the impact of innovative transformation in the lifestyle and service sectors; highlight successful case studies of innovative transformation in the lifestyle and service sectors; and explore innovative strategies to enhance productivity in those sectors. Target participants are government officials in charge of service-sector productivity policy, consultants or trainers from NPOs or firms, and representatives of industrial associations or enterprises providing productivity consultancy and training for the service/lifestyle sector. Interested Filipino applicants may contact the Development Academy of the Philippines, the National Productivity Organization of the Philippines, through its APO/DAP Secretariat at apodapsec-gse1@dap.edu.ph. The deadline for application is on 22 March 2024. A huge thank you to Sussie Ketit at the Singapore Institute of Building for hosting last night's event. Thank you for inviting me to share some 'Flexpert' insights with you and your members about how to get the best from flex in a world that's ever changing. As Singapore embraces more flexible work practice it's smart for us all to connect across our national borders, sharing what we're learning and create a better future of work together, wherever we are in the world. Given the time difference, it was a late night for me to stay up for my speaking slot at midnight, but I felt so energised by your passion for flexible work's power to create better outcomes for business, community and the planet. I'm looking forward to continuing the conversation and the learning. #flexperts #flexiblework #wellbeing #productivity #sustainability

Finance & IT Transformation | Shared Services | Nearshore Outsourcing | RPA & Intelligent Automation
Everyone talks about "time zone" as the obvious advantage of doing shared services or outsourcing from Latin America versus Asia. When I speak with some clients in early stages of outsourcing exploration, they don't seem to get the advantages of nearshoring over Asia if their Asia provider plans to work on their US hours... The reality is that it goes beyond time zone. It's about cultural affinity, talent, turnover, innovation mindset, ease of travel, and SO many other factors that contribute to a higher likelihood of success. As a proof to all these points, based on our newest report with SSON Research & Analytics, the levels of satisfaction of LATAM Shared Services (87%) outpace every other region: 53% in Asia, 64% in Europe, and 69% in North America. Check out the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eii_xhr3 Look forward to your thoughts about the report and how it relates to your experience!

The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Secretariat is now accepting nominations for national experts to the Research on Measuring Productivity in Digital Workplaces. Advances in technology have made digital workplaces possible. This is supported by new work styles and performance measured by output rather than physical presence. The new workplace model focuses on productivity, collaboration, leadership, and culture in the digital age. However, there are challenges to be addressed in measuring productivity in digital workplaces. According to the 2022 APO report on Digital Readiness Assessment, digitalization and networking are impacting all aspects of business. This research project will assess the extent of digital adoption and sophistication of organizations in the public and private sectors and how workplace operations are affected by greater efficiency and technology optimization. Target national experts are policy analysts, practitioners, or academic researchers specializing in digitalization and digital workplaces with research experience and publications in English on the topic. Interested parties may contact the Development Academy of the Philippines, the National Productivity Organization of the Philippines, through its APO/DAP Secretariat at apodapsec-gse1@dap.edu.ph. The deadline for proposal submission to DAP is on 14 June 2024. For inquiries, please click this link: https://lnkd.in/g2kTcsan or scan the code below. #APO #APOProject #productivitymeasurement #digitalworkplaces #research

As the probability of the end of my time in Singapore starts nipping at my heels, I have been reflecting on many things, one of which was navigating the challenges of working this timezone within a global team and what it really means to be "global". Working in Singapore is an amazing experience and, by far, the single best decision I have ever made and I will be forever grateful to those that gave me the opportunity. However, being part of a global team in this timezone has come with its own set of challenges… As the sun rises in one part of the world, it sets in another and creates a virtual relay race of tasks, communication, and collaboration and one of the primary hurdles faced when working in Singapore (and many parts of the world I would imagine) and attempting to deliver a unified level of service, is the often substantial time difference and managing teams across that time difference to ensure a single beat of the drum to march forward to. Our geographical location can place us in a unique position, making it challenging to synchronise schedules with team members scattered across various continents and keep in the loop of those dynamic conversations, the “water cooler” conversations if you will, that occur when timezones cross more closely. The need to schedule meetings at odd hours or rely all too heavily on emails and retrospectively catching up on group messaging can lead to feelings of isolation and a sense of being out of sync which in turn results in a lack of continuity in the service we deliver across regions. Although managing teams across various time zones is challenging and is sometimes hard, there lies an opportunity for innovation and adaptability and I truly believe it is worth the effort! Learning to leverage technology more effectively, utilising collaborative platforms and communication channels to bridge the gap and encouraging flexibility, in all locations, becomes a cornerstone in global collaboration. In harnessing this global mentality you allow more diverse perspectives and skills that each team member brings to the table and in an era of increasing global interconnectivity, working across diverse time zones is a valuable skill set that significantly benefits any global organisation. Inclusion is everything and when you have great leadership it shines through to bring all members of a team together despite the physical distance and time differences allowing synergies from a team to spread across the globe resulting in a unique blend of creativity and efficiency where you can then truly say you have a global team and don't just have teams globally! #globalbusiness #servicedelivery #customerexperience #leadershipexcellence #customerserviceexcellence
