Lovely video following on from our recent deliberative process in Bude #citizensassemblies #citizensjuries https://lnkd.in/gTz4M3RV
“We as a jury want to make an ongoing commitment to continue to push for change - and believe that if we all work together we can achieve this. People power is central to addressing this but likewise so is political action at all levels.” The Bude Area Community Jury on Climate Change presented their recommendations to policymakers, councillors, and civil society organisations in January, but its members have continued to push for action on both the local and national levels, having recently met with Bude-Stratton Town Council, Cornwall Council, and their local MP, to discuss the changes they want to see. To find out more about the Jury’s ongoing work, check out the Bude Climate Partnership website: https://lnkd.in/efhh6vMa For a closer look at the process, take a look at the documentary below! #climatechange #sealevelrise #democracy #citizensassembly

As the co-leader of the Climate Alliance of Palestine, I recently had the privilege of sitting down with AJ Stream for an in-depth interview exploring the intricate connection between Palestine and the global Climate Justice movement. In the interview which you can watch here: https://lnkd.in/eWv3pH6d , we delved into the harsh realities of living under occupation and the systematic destruction of the Palestinian environment and ecosystem – an undeniable act of ecocide. Our discussion highlighted the urgency for action, exploring the ways in which restricted access to natural resources like water and arable land, coupled with the devastating consequences of illegal settlements, the separation wall, and military operations, have exacerbated environmental degradation in Palestine. We also focused on the Stop Ecocide campaign, a grassroots initiative spearheaded by the Climate Alliance of Palestine which aims to raise awareness about the environmental injustices perpetrated against Palestinians and advocate for accountability and sustainable solutions to address these issues. If you're interested in learning more about the Climate Alliance of Palestine and our Stop Ecocide campaign, I encourage you to watch the interview and join us in this critical fight.

Why are right wing populist parties in Europe and America so hostile to Net Zero? And what does this mean for climate policy, in a world where those parties are on the rise? In a recent E3G event, SEG Co-Director Matthew Lockwood provides some very helpful insights into these important questions. 📺 👇 https://lnkd.in/etgk5ZbP #climatepolitics #climatepolicy #netzero #populism #policyresearch #energypolicy

New on the blog! 🗞️ “In the Caribbean, we keep witnessing and suffering first-hand the increasingly dangerous effects of a global climate crisis. It remains glaringly evident that, where those that hold substantial wealth and economic, political power talk of small, performative, ultimately ineffective policies to “fight” climate change, they are either truly or willfully ignorant of just what fighting for climate justice means.” Read more from our latest blog written by our very own, Nyala Thompson Grunwald. ⬇️

As more and more people become displaced by Global-North-induced climate catastrophes, and as Global South communities continue to bear the brunt of the climate catastrophe, it is worthwhile remembering that climate justice is migrant justice: climate justice cannot exist without a commitment to justice for migrant communities.

It is important that we continue to remind ourselves of the current climate change situation and the importance of educating ourselves, both personally and professionally. This video from Simon Stiell vividly illustrates the trauma inflicted on people due to climate change, and without serious commitment and action, such scenes will only become more common and the storms more frequent. A reminder in case we have forgotten; "climate change is defined as the long-term impact on temperature or weather patterns and the global temperature rise due to excessive greenhouse gases", and this demands immediate attention. When (or if) the right leaders stand up together, transformation can happen, and now is that moment. We must take climate action before it is too late. The time for talking is really over. #climateaction #leadership #globalgoals #COP29 #humanity #noplanetB
What I'm seeing on my home island, Carriacou, must not become humanity's new normal. If governments everywhere don’t step up, 8 billion people will be facing this blunt force trauma head on, on a continuous basis. We need climate action back at the top of political agendas.

Good to hear Miatta Fahnbulleh on the New Statesman Path to Power Conference's panel on the Green Prosperity Plan stating, "if we try to do this all at the national level we will fail". Clear support for more devolution and working with UK local authorities and mayoral authorities to drive forward climate action in the UK. #NSPath2Power
