Working during the summer, when temperatures can reach a sweltering 37 degrees or higher, it's crucial to consistently raise awareness about workplace safety. During our toolbox talk, I emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and taking breaks to cool off, ensuring everyone's well-being in the extreme heat. don't worry about the audio, the hot weather has seized it 🙄 A special shout-out to my mentor, Wilson Kongnyuy - CSP CMIOSH, for his constant support, and my boss, IKENNA OKEKE, for his guidance, support, and exemplary leadership. During the past 6 months I have been collaborating with Senior Leadership Team at the RNEC in both Fort Belvoir, Fort Carson and Fort Cavazos, focusing on enhancing team cohesiveness in five critical areas: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results. Each team began this initiative by completing an assessment designed to measure its strengths and areas for growth in these dimensions. Each team member received a detailed report outlining the group’s specific strengths and challenges. Following the initial assessment, the team engaged in a structured process to address these areas for improvement by answering key questions, including: What’s working well? What’s not working? What’s missing? What do I need more of? What do I need less of? What should I stop doing? What should I start doing? The insights gathered from this exercise were used to develop a 30-, 60-, and 90-day action plan to move weaker areas into the “strengths” column. Next month, each team will retake the assessment to evaluate the progress made over the past six months and quantify team cohesiveness improvements. The transformational progress has been incredible. New levels of communication and collaboration has been developed. The process to create a cohesive team is not for the faint of heart. It takes persistence and commitment from each participant.
