This incredible course, designed specifically for African learners, opened my eyes to the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a Civil Engineering graduate specializing in Highway Technology here in Rwanda, I'm always looking for ways to innovate and improve the field. The AiCE program provided a wealth of knowledge on how AI is transforming problem-solving and shaping the future of our industries. Here are just a few of the amazing takeaways: Introduction to AI & Unlocking its Power: I gained a solid understanding of AI fundamentals and its vast potential to revolutionize various sectors, including construction and infrastructure. AI & the Future of Jobs: The course addressed the hot topic of AI replacing jobs, but also highlighted the numerous new career opportunities it creates – especially for those with a blend of technical and AI skills. Brainstorming & Content Creation with AI: I learned how AI can assist with brainstorming ideas and even creating content – perfect for generating creative proposals or technical reports! The Art of Persuasive Communication & Using AI for Good: The program emphasized the importance of clear communication – even when working with AI. We also explored how AI can be harnessed to tackle global challenges and create a positive impact. AI Assistants & Decision-Making: The course introduced me to the power of AI assistants and how they can streamline tasks and boost efficiency. We also delved into AI-powered decision-making, exploring its potential to optimize processes and improve outcomes. **Dream Big with AI! ** This program has not only equipped me with valuable knowledge but has also ignited my passion for exploring how AI can be integrated into Civil Engineering. I believe AI has the potential to revolutionize how we design, build, and maintain our infrastructure – leading to safer, more sustainable, and efficient transportation systems. Incredible result for Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and the Ulysseus European University as 2 of our recently submitted and coordinated Erasmus+ Satellite Projects were accepted in Finland. Competition was high for this round with 45 applications submitted by Finnish Higher Education Institutions, however Haaga-Helia UAS has been awarded 2 out of 6 projects under this round! "The application acceptance rate was low at only 13%. At the same time, the lowest score required to receive funding was high at 90 points, indicating that the quality of applications and especially the projects that were granted funding was high overall" Well done to Ari Alamäki, Umair Ali Khan and Sari Korhonen for their excellent project MetaCog which will strengthen AI literacy to tackle disinformation and fake news by fostering civic engagement and shared values in European societies. In addition, Alfa Labs was also funded, which I wrote with invaluable AI insights from Umair Ali Khan and which will advance the digital capabilities of higher education in the use of AI and Increase digital transformation of HEIs through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity. These projects form part of the Ulysseus Satellite Project portfolio, where members of the Ulysseus Alliance join to develop projects to answer common research and innovation challenges that face the EU. Proud to have won S+t+Arts Prize Africa Award of distinction from @arselectronica with artist and collaborator Ama BE ! Nana Ama Bentsi-Enchill The work reimagines the relationship between embodiment and datafication to challenge data colonialism and exploitative relationships between data and the self. The performance art and digital architecture is iterative and we hope to continue to evolve and gain support for the work. The next iteration will feature avatars as mediums of ritual and embodiment, pushing for representational and epistemological justice in AI systems. “Black Body Radiation: Rescripting Data Bodies is a collaborative art project by Ameera Kawash and Ama BE. The series consists of propositional performances that explore tobacco—materially, ritually, and as a form of value. The project incorporates body sensor networks and blockchain architectures to generate and rescript data bodies as agential forces emerging from the physical expressions of the performance, such as choreography, gesture, and repeated movements. During these performances, Ama BE wears three body sensors that track her heart rate, body temperature, and blood oxygen levels. This data is then uploaded to a server, where it interacts with algorithmic processing and blockchain architectures. Ameera Kawash, collaborating with Ama BE, designed this backend to produce digital intimate assets and reconfigure the data layer to explore new possibilities for choreography, documentation, and funding for live performance artworks”

Innovation Pioneer: How R & D Solution Is Building the Bridge Between Education, Market, and Science in Albania 🇦🇱 In 2006, after completing my studies in robotics at one of the European Universities, I decided to return to Albania to contribute to my Country. This decision was not easy, as robotics, a field that requires extensive research and development (R&D), was almost unknown in Albania at that time. The beginning of my career was filled with challenges, where I often emphasized the need for practical solutions instead of new inventions. However, I soon realized that some problems indeed required exactly that – new inventions to find the right solutions. 🌍 🗞 This realization led to the creation of a mini R&D department within Soft & Solution, which quickly became clear was necessary not only for the company but also for the Albanian state as a whole. From this need and vision, the idea for establishing R&D Solution, an avant-garde company aiming to provide innovative solutions through research and development, was born. 💡 🛰 R&D Solution, which will become part of the SS Group, symbolizes the union of three key spheres of society: education, the market, and science. This integration aims to create an ecosystem where fostering innovation is not just a business objective but a national effort to increase the country's scientific and technological capacities. 📡 On March 7th, Teachers' Day, R&D Solution will be officially introduced, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of innovation in Albania.
