🌍 Philanthropy Must Act Now to Support Native-led Nonprofits 🌍 This is a letter from Native Ways Federation Executive Director Carly Bad Heart Bull. We are in uncertain times, and Native communities are facing increased challenges. Federal policies and actions that divide and disrupt are not new to Tribal Nations, but they are still deeply harmful. These systemic issues of underfunding and oppression impact not just Native communities, but all of us. As we navigate this difficult landscape, we need philanthropy to step up in real ways. Native-led nonprofits are critical to our survival and thriving, yet they receive only 0.27% of private foundation dollars. That's why we're calling for sustained, unrestricted support—to ensure these organizations can continue their vital work in service to our people, our communities, and our planet. Native Ways Federation is committed to amplifying Native-led efforts, connecting resources with those who need them, and fighting for justice and equity. We believe in the power of community and know that our nations and Native-led organizations have the solutions we need. But we can't do it alone. Now is the time for philanthropy to show up. 💪 ➡️ Read the full statement from Native Ways Federation Executive Director Carly Bad Heart Bull: https://lnkd.in/gzQNPcJ3 📩 Get updates and connect with us at info@nativeways.org #SupportNativeLed #PhilanthropyForChange #IndigenousJustice #NativeSovereignty #ActNow

The deadline to submit applications for Oconomowoc Area Foundation's 2024 grant cycle is quickly approaching! The foundation makes grants to nonprofits that serve communities within the Oconomowoc Area School District, including the towns of Ashippun, Ixonia, Okauchee, Summit, Dousman and Nashotah. The nonprofit does not have to be physically located within the greater Oconomowoc area, but it must demonstrate it provides services to the residents of these communities. Its funding priorities are the following: ✨Programs for children and youth ✨Programs providing support services for the elderly. ✨Programs providing support services for people facing undue hardship or life-threatening conditions. ✨Programs that preserve and protect the environment and wildlife. ✨Programs that enrich the community through economic, cultural, and arts development.
