Thank you to our friends at the St. Charles County Ambulance District for spending the day teaching our staff life-saving skills through the American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Training Program. More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out of hospital cardiac arrest. #CPR #cprtraining

If you read most first aid guides, the last step in treating someone who’s gotten injured or sick is always: get the victim to professional medical help. But what if you found yourself in a situation where hospitals were overcrowded, inaccessible, or non-functional? What if you found yourself in a grid-down, long-term disaster, and you were the highest medical resource available? Dr. Joe Alton is an expert in what would come after the step where most first aid guides leave off. He’s a retired surgeon and the co-author of The Survival Medicine Handbook: The Essential Guide for When Help is NOT on the Way. Today on the show, Joe argues that every family should have a medical asset and how to prepare to be a civilian medic. Listen in the link in the comments

Bystander CPR improves survival. ❤️ The location of Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA) most often occurs in homes/residences (73.4%), followed by public settings (16.3%), and nursing homes (10.3%). If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out of hospital cardiac arrest. -American Heart Association Learn how to perform CPR in any of our first aid classes. www.wcff.ca/first-aid . . #CPRTraining #FirstAidSkills #YEGFirstAid #YEGFirstAidTraining #firstaidtraining #FirstAidSavesLives

First aid in emergency situations involves immediate care provided to an injured or ill person before professional medical help arrives. Key principles include assessing the scene for safety, calling emergency services, and performing life-saving techniques such as CPR, controlling bleeding, and positioning the patient to maintain airway clearance. Recognizing life-threatening conditions, such as cardiac arrest or severe trauma, is crucial. Quick action can stabilize the patient and significantly improve outcomes, making knowledge of first aid essential for anyone. #FirstAid #EmergencyCare #CPR #basicfirstaid #LifeSavingSkills #FirstResponder #EmergencyPreparedness #SaveALife #HealthAndSafety

What is the difference between hands only CPR and CPR training? Hands only CPR is a public awareness campaign to get people to act if they encounter a cardiac arrest. It involves two steps: calling 911 and starting compressions by pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest. Hands only CPR can be used on teens and adults. It is effective because compressions push the remaining oxygen through the body to keep vital organs alive. Learning this skill buys time until emergency responders arrive. CPR training is offered through online or in-person classes. It includes in depth training including CPR with breaths and choking relief. Receiving CPR training means you can help anyone in cardiac arrest including adults, teens, children, infants, pregnant women, and any victims of drowning, drug overdose or collapse due to breathing problems. CPR with breaths combines chest compressions and breaths, providing additional oxygen to circulate throughout the body. #nolensvillefire #cprawareness #aedawareness #savealife #cprsaveslives #heartsmart #cardiacarrest

Hello everyone!!! CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is an emergency first aid technique that is a combination of chest compressions and artificial ventilation (mouth-to-mouth). It is a life-saving procedure that can help keep someone’s blood flowing after their heart stops beating, as well as double or triple the chances of survival after cardiac arrest. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends the use of the letters CAB to help you remember the order of CPR steps: C for compressions A for airway B for breathing #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

Today serves as a reminder that anyone can learn basic CPR skills and potentially save a life in the event of a cardiac arrest. Restart a Heart Day encourages individuals, schools, organizations, and communities to participate in CPR training and to become equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to emergencies effectively. Together, we can change the statistics that of the 350,000 cardiac arrests that happen outside the hospital, 90% of those individuals die, largely due to the fact they do not receive timely CPR. According to the American Heart Association, CPR that is performed quickly can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. Check out the training resources from AHA and put yourself in a position to help save a life!
On #WorldRestartAHeartDay, take a moment to learn ways you can be prepared for a cardiac emergency! Andy's story is one example of how preparedness can save a life. He faced a harrowing moment when he collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest during a game of walking football. Thankfully, Sue, a fellow player and first aid volunteer, immediately sprang to action. With her training and the support of the system of care, Sue successfully saved Andy's life. Learning basic CPR and AED skills can help you stay calm and confident if you ever face a sudden cardiac emergency. Find and share training resources at the link below. 🚑 Did you know that many executive protection specialists are trained in advanced first aid and emergency medical response, including trauma care. This allows them to provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies until professional help arrives. Given the unpredictable nature of the environments in which CPOs (Close Protection Operatives) operate, these skills are crucial for managing potential health crises effectively. 🚨 Please note that while SOME executive protection specialists are advanced first aid and trauma care trained, ALL CPOs should be FIRST AID TRAINED in order to provide a more robust and reliable protection service.🚨 #firstaid #firstaidtrained #closeprotection #medicalemergency #SCS
