1 in 5 Australians are of Asian heritage, yet we do not see enough Asian representation in the climate movement. Current climate spaces are unfortunately failing to support, empower or highlight Asian Australian leaders and their abilities to inspire, organise and mobilise their communities for climate action. Moreover, Asian Australians’ overall climate literacy is hindered by misinformation , limited access to accurate information , leading to passivity and deferential attitudes. Additionally, few climate organisations understand the complexities that Asian Australians experience surrounding differences in confidence to engage in public life. We have much to do. Please join us in our advocacy work to build an environment where Asian Australians are in the forefront of shaping climate solutions for Australia 🙏
On World Environment Day today, we ask that you join us in our advocacy efforts within our Asian Australian communities. Here is to creating a sustainable, equitable and prosperous future for all! Click here to join us! https://lnkd.in/gyRqKjMh

Defining Equity: Identify the Who How we take this broad concept—ensuring everyone has what they need to succeed and be well—and tailor it to our unique contexts? By focusing our lens. 🎯 We often aim to serve everyone, but scattering our efforts can dilute their impact. To create meaningful change, we must hone in on a starting point that aligns with our strengths and existing relationships. For instance, if we already serve a substantial number of African Caribbean and Black clients, that may be an opportunity to deepen our understanding and serve them better. Or if we're set on the path of reconciliation, having preexisting connections with elders and local organizations is key. By building on established trust, our efforts are not only more likely to succeed but also come across as genuine—a reflection of our commitment, not a "cold call" to action. Once we identify the who with our teams, we then need to communicate our starting point to all of our constituencies - staff, volunteers, clients, board, partners. Be ready to explain why you are starting where you are and where you to go in the future.

🌟 Reflecting on the power of dialogue and connection after reading a thought-provoking article. Here's a key takeaway that resonated: 🔹 Instead of focusing on disagreements, fostering a sense of belonging and community can be transformative. It's like nurturing a garden; while the flowers may vary, the shared soil unites them all. 🔹 Embracing respectful and honest conversations, even on controversial topics, can lead to profound understanding and comfort in discussing sensitive issues. 🔹 Resisting polarization by developing internal capacities and skills to engage positively in conversations adds depth to our democracy, steering away from a competitive political arena. 🔹 Imagine a world where dialogue strengthens relationships, deepens belonging, and renews hope in our communities. It's the foundation for change from within, creating lasting impact. Let's continue the dialogue and strive for unity through understanding and respect. https://lnkd.in/gppxBqXG
