what if we designed our work so it is part of our lives? what if our work was a good and healthy way of creating what we need so we don't need to keep the dangerous things away from our homes? what if work was for *us* and our families and communities. not for someone so far removed that we are only a ledger line for generations we lived and worked and did our lives in communities and in many places we were collectively far more happy and prosperous the separation of work and life grew out of the increasing social and physical industrialization and toxicity of business practices (I mean we didn't have streaming but all things considered, I'll take community story time around a campfire instead) the idea that how North America is built is the way things are supposed to be built and operate is really not normal - it's the exception. and not a great one either human sized lives are so fine for me and so many of us. the cost of the alternative is becoming increasingly obvious and more people, daily, are deciding they are no longer willing to ignore these costs to themselves or others as more people look for trauma-informed approaches to work and culturally and psychologically safe workplaces, they will also expect the outcomes to have the same values we are collectively learning we belong to each other right now. some are far more stubbornly resistant but that matters less as more people begin to make small meaningful changes eventually there are tipping points - and we are beginning to see the seeds of these sprouting. people are learning we are more alike than we are different. and that what surface differences exist actually enrich our lives, think about food and music and clothing and how much richer fusion can be so to nurture this growth, we build community by design and the more we build community in ways that are healthy, the better we become https://lnkd.in/dqtz4hQ3
