Standing Together Amidst the Southern California Wildfires
The wildfires sweeping through Southern California have left a path of destruction, impacting thousands of families, homes, and ecosystems. These wildfires have been exacerbated by severe Santa Ana winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, and prolonged drought conditions. The combination of these factors has created a challenging environment and has significantly impacted the communities in the region.
With over 40,000 acres scorched and 12,000+ structures damaged or destroyed, the devastation is immense. As of January 14, 2025, at least 25 people have lost their lives, with over 22 individuals injured, and over 200,000 residents have been evacuated from affected areas. The estimated economic loss is around $250 billion, potentially making this the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.
At Ferrer we are committed to using business to fight for social justice. In alignment with our Strategic Pillars of Great People, Liveable Planet, and Collective Action, we made two $5,000 donations ($10,000 total) to the following fire relief efforts:
- Eaton Canyon Fire Relief Fund at Pasadena Community Foundation: This fund addresses the immediate and urgent needs of impacted communities, helping them recover and rebuild.
- World Central Kitchen: This organization is on the ground providing free, hot meals to first responders and families displaced by the fires.
To support these efforts further, we encourage our community to take action. If you'd like to contribute personally, here are links to donate directly:
