How do your donations impact your community? In conflicts between landlords and tenants, eviction should be the last resort. That’s why we’ve teamed up with partner agencies like Just Mediation Pittsburgh and RentHelpPGH to keep people in their homes. With Just Mediation, landlords and tenants work together to identify solutions. To date, more than 750 families have avoided eviction. RentHelp PGH has helped 3,000 people access rent, utility and legal assistance in the past 3 years. Together with these partners, your donations are helping your neighbors keep a roof over their heads. Help us continue to provide basic needs to the community at uwswpa.org/donate. #ChangemakersUnite

It’s Throwback Thursday and we're taking a look back on a fun-filled afternoon celebrating the close of United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s successful campaign. Thanks to our incredible staff, we raised nearly$70,000 to support critical work in the community. Our donations are helping people to meet basic needs, move to financial stability and build for success in school and life. Our event wrapped up with fellowship and creativity as we painted canvases featuring the United Way Circle of Hope. The paintings are displayed in each of our regional offices. #ChangemakersUnite #TBT

Every day, more than 9,000 Americans turn 65, facing new challenges and opportunities. For some, a wide-open calendar can feel disorienting and disconnecting. Some women may approach retirement with fewer savings due to wage inequity and part-time work with career interruptions for family care. United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is dedicated to meeting people where they are, and in response, created NextUP to provide meaningful connections and guidance for women navigating this new phase of life. NextUP is a branch of Women United and is now in its third year offering more structure and opportunities for women to thrive. In our latest Voices United blog, NextUP co-chairs Dottie Alken and Sanda Harker share how being part of a group dedicated to investing in women and children, while offering valuable networking opportunities, has greatly supported their journeys into retirement.
