Sr. Accessibility Consultant & Advocate for Workplace Wellbeing | Empowering Queer, Neurodiverse & Disabled Professionals | #A11yWithAngela
Hi, I'm Angela, and I'm so glad you're here! 👋🏼 My journey intertwines the realms of accessibility, advocacy, and action towards creating inclusive spaces within and among organizations. My work primarily focuses on how we can leverage technology to enhance accessible and inclusive experiences for all identities and communities. This passion stems from a deep-seated belief in the potential of technology to bridge gaps, not widen them. My aim is to ensure that digital and built environments are designed to be accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. In addition to my advocacy work, I actively engage in discussions around diversity and inclusion within the tech and educational sectors. I believe that a diverse workforce not only fosters innovation but is essential for creating technologies and learning materials that reflect the needs of a diverse population. On this platform, I share insights from my own lived experiences, reflections on inclusivity in tech and education, and practical advice for integrating accessibility into digital products and physical spaces. My content aims to enlighten, inspire, and provoke thought among professionals, educators, and anyone interested in the intersection of technology, education, and accessibility. I truly believe in bringing my "whole self" to work and to everything I do in navigating inclusivity for everyone. This is a way of being that not only opens doors for others but enriches our collective human experience. 💁🏼♀️ 💕 #SocialSaturday #Inclusion #Identity #SocialMedia —— #A11yWithAngela 👈🏼 Are you following this? Project Manager | Building Engaged and Thriving Communities | Expert in Social Media Strategy & Event management
Inclusivity isn’t optional in tech. (4 steps to make your community truly welcoming) Look, creating a welcoming space isn’t just a nice-to-have—it's essential. Too many communities overlook this, thinking their work speaks for itself. But if you’re not actively making your space inclusive, you’re missing out on diverse voices and innovation. And trust me, you can’t afford to miss out on that. (this is non-negotiable) Here’s how to ensure everyone feels they belong ↓ ↓ 1. Foster open communication channels (let everyone be heard) 2. Actively seek diverse perspectives (diversity drives innovation) 3. Provide resources for underrepresented groups (support matters) 4. Celebrate and share all voices (amplify every story) Follow these steps and you’ll build a community where everyone thrives. (Inclusivity is the key to staying ahead) Now, some of you might be wondering... Does this mean I need to rethink my entire strategy? Yes, it does. (not if you want to build a community that lasts) PS. Who’s committed to making their community truly inclusive this year?

Want to promote equality in tech? Let’s explore ways to tackle unconscious bias: Unconscious bias can significantly impact fairness and equality in the workplace, especially in tech. So, here’s how we can address it and create a more inclusive environment: 🔸 Awareness and education - Conduct regular training sessions to help employees recognize and understand their unconscious biases. 🔸 Diverse hiring panels - Ensure hiring panels are diverse to minimize the impact of individual biases. 🔸 Standardized evaluation criteria - Develop clear, objective criteria for evaluating candidates and employees. 🔸 Promote inclusive culture - Foster an inclusive workplace culture where diverse voices are heard and valued. 🔸 Mentorship programs - Establish mentorship and sponsorship programs to support women in tech. 🚀 Exciting Announcement: Launching dcoded.Diversity! 🚀 dcoded. and I are thrilled to introduce a project dedicated to amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities in tech. Through in-depth conversations, I’ll be speaking with leaders who are actively shaping more inclusive and equitable spaces in our industry. In these conversations, we’ll dive into: 🌐 The Intersection of Identities — exploring how race, gender, and background impact experiences in tech. 🚀 Inclusive Workplace Culture — sharing strategies for building environments where everyone feels valued. 💡 Career Guidance & Mentorship — offering advice to support aspiring tech professionals from diverse backgrounds. 🔍 The Future of DE&I — discussing how we can create lasting change in tech and beyond. DE&I is something that I have always been passionate about, whilst at Strativ I co-founded the Disruptive Diversity community (Edie & Saffron are your go to girls for this now). Through this I conducted a number of interviews, interviewing people from all walks of life meant that each conversation taught me something new and gave me knowledge I could share and act on. When I joined dcoded, I knew Jay Guney 💚 shared my passion for DE&I and that we would work hard to create and support a Manchester community. We're still shaping what this looks like but I'm sure it'll encompass written articles, podcasts, meetups, roundtables etc. If you have any ideas or would like to be involved in any capacity, let's have a chat! 💚 #DEI #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #dcodedDiversity #ManchesterCommunity #DEIEvents #DEIGroups
