I had an incredible experience at Catalyst 2024 Conference in Chicago, a city I love. The event was truly transformative, bringing together professionals from various industries to explore the future of partnerships and collaboration. Key Highlights: - Inspiring Keynotes: Industry leaders shared insights on the evolving partnership landscape, offering motivating stories of success and resilience. - Engaging Workshop: Interactive sessions focused on practical partner management strategies and leveraging technology in partnership ecosystems. Alan Braun words, "Be bold. Deliver customer outcomes. Make a big impact. Don't be timid," resonated with me. - Networking Opportunities: Connecting with like-minded professionals was invaluable. Meaningful conversations and new connections were forged, setting the stage for future collaborations. Meeting 📈Jen Waltz 💃🏽 was a highlight; her presence commands attention in the best way. 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥. Last week I sat down with Lal Bahadur of Places for London, Amber Luscombe of Oxygen Asset Management, and Christopher Donkin of London Sport to discuss this at Studio Zao's Innovation Forum. Below is a reel of the key learnings. But what I found most interesting was the conversation about being able to 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞, which is pretty critical because property assets sit at the heart of communities and places, so any exploration of new or alternative uses for assets has to be good for the place, as well as for the balance sheet. Secondly, 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 can be hard with physical assets that require a lot of upfront agreement on 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, with a specific frame of payback in mind in the 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬. So being able to flex and experiment different ways of using property assets also requires 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 of assets and measuring its value.
