Intrinsic Motivation. That’s at the core of our foundational first week. We pride ourselves with an identity of the Energy Infrastructure Academy being a filter and not a pump. We can establish a path free of historical obstacles and barriers for entry; but at the end of the day, each candidate has to put in the work. We don’t let anyone hide. We challenge them to go deep and prove to themselves that they want their dreams to become reality. From personal, professional and physical development- to technical training, motivation and teamwork, we endeavor to create the best diverse workforce pipeline National Grid has ever seen. The bar isn’t lowered. We press beyond where the bar typically is so there is no question that the opportunities presented to them are indeed earned. Thanks to Community Work Services for the continued trust in me to bring innovative, world-class training to their clients. Thanks to Amanda C. Downey, LLM, JD, MBA for her EXCEPTIONAL leadership, courage and class while undertaking this historic challenge to create something that has never existed in the company’s history. To Anthony Johnson for being a rock and constant source of encouragement to the candidates. To Jimmy (Tzuming Lee), Stephanie Chery-Winder and Laura Reiman for being silent hands that keep things in motion. And to then unbelievable work of Rosane Batista in recruitment, logistics, case management and more than this post could capture. Throwback to South African-German Energy Programme’s (SAGEN) celebration of achievements. Time flies! We can barely believe that just weeks ago, we hosted our year-end function with our valued partners from across South Africa, and now we are leaping full force into making our desired outcomes for 2024 a reality. Who is “we”? SAGEN. The South African- German Energy Programme, a bilateral partnership designed to make reliable, affordable and a clean energy future a possibility for South Africa through collaboration. We celebrated many highs achieved together with our partners. Dr Silas Mulaudzi from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), noted, “The difference that working with SAGEN has brought in the municipal space is quite massive! Municipalities have benefitted a lot in different areas of renewable energy.” from improving energy management systems, embedded generation, expertise refinement, increasing skills transfer, and more. The occasion was also an opportunity to celebrate the launch of the next phase of Capacities for the Energy Transition II (CET II) which will be led by Anna-Maria Heisig and will build on the outstanding work achieved by CET I. Heisig shares, “We have trained close to 900 sector experts, [who] are going to be the current and future experts of the energy transition”. A remarkable reflection of SAGEN’s dedication to creating a reliable, affordable and clean energy future through collaboration. In the words of SAGEN’s Head of Programme, Lilian Charlotte Laurisch, “Our main focus will continue to be on supporting the energy transition in South Africa and be a reliable partner in advancing South Africa’s energy goals.” To see what else our partners shared and how celebrations unfolded, watch our video: https://lnkd.in/eiUkKRjU _________________________________________________________________________________ SAGEN collaborates with South African partners to support the country’s transition to a reliable, affordable and clean energy future. SAGEN is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-funded by SECO Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, the National Treasury of South Africa, Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, the South African Local Government Association and Sanedi.org. #SAGEN #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #EnergyPartnership #Collaboration #SouthAfrica #Germany #ElectricityDistribution #PowerSectorReform #EnergyPolicy #DistributedEnergy #EndLoadshedding

Inadequate transmission infrastructure remains one of the most significant obstacles to deployment of new energy projects. Our grid is aging and in dire need of investment to maintain reliability, facilitate the energy transition, and meet future needs. It's time to tackle this issue head-on!
If you have any questions, ask our great FERC team headed by Kimberly Frank.

Today, we joined distinguished industry leaders in the energy sector for the ‘Electrification of Everything’! In conversation with Aamir Paul (President & CEO, Schneider Electric North America), Gil C. Quiniones (CEO of ComEd), and Jennifer Scanlon (President & CEO, UL Solutions), explore how we can best work together to advance safety, and security, and sustainability in the energy sector. Key takeaways: * Electrification is driven by the need to combat climate change and encourage the adoption of clean energy. * As federal and state policies are catalysts for the private sector to do more, there is an opportunity to utilize evolving technologies and invest in the Chicago grid. * Going forward there’s a greater need for collaboration among industry, governments, and the public to address challenges and opportunities in energy management and industrial electric utility. A very special thank you to our presenting sponsor KPMG and Jeff King (Chicago Advisory Market Leader, KPMG) for supporting us today!
