1 in 10 children in Australia still miss out on quality early learning. The children that stand to benefit the most, are most likely to miss out. Today we launch our More than Money campaign in Canberra’s Parliament House to call out the access issues created by non-financial barriers for families already experiencing disadvantage. With representation from all areas of the early education sector, across Government and non-Government attending our Little Lunch, we heard from Hon. Dr. Anne Aly Minister for Early Childhood Education and Ms Angie Bell Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education. We also heard Myra Geddes Social Impact General Manager of Goodstart Early Learning as well as Tamara Pararajasingham - General Manager of Impact and Innovation at Uniting NSW.ACT - and look forward to continue the collaboration across our sectors to strengthen this important work. 👉 Find out more about the More than Money campaign: https://lnkd.in/gQBhRx5m #WeAreUniting #EarlyLearning #MoreThanMoney #Parents #AusPol Goodstart Early Learning

This will only take 50seconds to watch and will give you a glimpse of the impact an early learning linker’s support can offer for a child’s opportunity for the very best start. #everychildmatters #ittakesavillage This short video showcases; #collaboration #partnership #earlyintervention #earlychildhoodeducation #access #inclusion #linkstoearlylearning 👏 Ps, that’s our early learning linker at play!
Recently Charishma Kaliyanda MP - Member for Liverpool - was able to see and hear first-hand how Uniting's Links to Early Learning program has been supporting local families. 😍 Often, families need support to access early learning. Financial support alone doesn't solve this - families face a range of non-financial barriers, particularly where English is not their first language. That's where Uniting's "Early Learning Linkers" are able to assist, helping families find quality community services and early learning providers. Unfortunately, the Government has ceased funding for L2EL in the Liverpool area, meaning other families will miss out on this valuable support. 😔 The team at Mission Australia Miller Community Preschool hosted Ms Kaliyanda, who had the pleasure of meeting little Ava-Marie, and heard how the L2EL program helped her family access early learning. Ms Kaliyanda said she enjoyed meeting the children, the staff and getting a sense of the "eco-system of support that is required." "Children who have complex vulnerabilities need complex services, or that can respond in complex ways to support them." 👏 #WeAreUniting #EarlyLearning #EarlyLearningMatter #parents #parenting #help #AusPol

We welcome the Federal Government announcement as a step forward towards universal access to early learning. However, even with fully publicly subsidised preschool, we know that the children who stand to benefit most from early learning are also those most likely to miss out. One in 10 children continue to be left behind directly because of a number of non-financial barriers and these include the children in families experiencing disadvantage, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability or those with Aboriginal heritage. "We must address these non-financial barriers to ensure equity of access,” said Tamara Pararajasingham, General Manager Impact and Innovation at Uniting NSW.ACT. “Uniting’s Links to Early Learning program is a proven solution to addressing and overcoming non-financial barriers to early learning. “Our Linkers advocate for children and their families and support them to navigate complex systems and subsidies to find a high-quality early learning service suitable for their needs. “We believe that recognising the issue of non-financial barriers is a critical piece of the policy puzzle, and providing ongoing funding for Uniting’s Links to Early Learning and similar navigation programs will help the sector to make meaningful change and ensure that no child gets left behind.” #WeAreUniting #EL #EarlyLearning #EarlyLearningMatters #EarlyEducator #parents

As we come to the end of Youth Month, l can’t help but reflect on the power of early childhood education and its impact on the future of our youth. There are millions of children, not only in South Africa but worldwide who lack access to quality early childhood education. And, children who are not made school-ready will never be life-ready either… no teacher can ever change that. Our NPO, The Unlimited Child, is working hard to change this. They unlock the potential in existing childminding facilities by training and coaching childminders to become ECD practitioners so that ALL children 0-6 have a proper foundation for school and life. To date, we’ve reached over 2 million children and with your help, we can reach more! If you or your business want to shift lives and make a meaningful difference in the world, consider supporting The Unlimited Child. Let’s unlimit a child’s dreams, together. 🎉Celebrating Success! 🎉 Two weeks ago, we embarked on a journey to provide education to underprivileged children through our new initiative in collaboration with Shailja Education and Welfare Trust. Today, I am thrilled to share that we have successfully completed this program, impacting the lives of many young minds. From day one, the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn displayed by these children have been truly inspiring. We've seen them grow in knowledge, confidence, and curiosity, reaffirming our belief in the power of education. A huge thank you to all of you who made this initiative possible. Your support and hard work have made a significant difference. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future. Personal Experience: One of the most memorable moments for me was when a young girl, who was initially shy and hesitant, confidently read a story aloud to the group by the end of the program. Seeing her transformation and the joy on her face was a powerful reminder of why we do this work. It’s these experiences that fuel our passion and commitment to continue making a difference. ▪️Key Highlights 📚 Reached 100+ Children: Our program provided educational support to over 100 children, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge. 📈 Improved Literacy and Numeracy: We saw remarkable progress in the children's literacy and numeracy skills, with many students achieving their learning milestones ahead of schedule. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🚀 #EducationForAll #GivingBack #CommunityImpact #FutureLeaders #ShailjaEducationAndWelfareTrust #completion

Every child deserves access to quality early learning. Unfortunately, non-financial barriers can mean families cannot access. Uniting is advocating for more funding to assist such families such as our Links to Early Learning Program. Read more below if you know families who could require assistance. #EarlyLearning #MoreThanMoney #AusPol
Across the country there are several communities where quality early learning does exist but non-financial barriers prevent families from getting in. These include families where there is domestic violence, a child with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait children, a child whose caregiver is a grandparent or unrelated carer, a child from a non-English speaking background, and more. At Uniting, we believe all children deserve access to quality early learning.
