As a driver recruiter for a trucking company, iInstead of telling your potential employees they need a class 1 (A) license to qualify for a driving position in your company, perhaps "We hire qualified entry level professional drivers" or we prefer to hire "Professional drivers with a minimum of two years experience" will get you different results? As importantly it will begin to send the message to anyone interested in starting a career that simply getting a cl;ass 1 or A license with the lowest cost provider is not a good decision. If having access to quality applicants and seeing an increase in the number of safe drivers on the road is important to you, then help to get the message out. Simply passing a Government road test does not indicate your are ready for a Professional driving career. Carriers can help by endorsing the quality driver training schools they will hire from, and educate the public on the best way to enter the industry. The average person on the street, believes they just need a driver license to work for you. Are you ok with that or would you like them trained to a higher standard? As the end user, the trucking company has the most to lose with poorly trained drivers!

❌ STOP skipping that walk-around! ❌ 🤔 But I work in a high volume store so it’s just not realistic… Technicians are great. They tell us what’s wrong with the car and how to fix it. They tell us things they noticed that could use attention. They take on all the training and years of experience it takes to do their important profession. But, they don’t need to be the ones to notice those bald tires. It doesn’t take a certified technician to noticed the tail light is out. We don’t need a technician to tell us the check engine light is on. Service advisors should be catching all these things in the service lane. Don’t have time? Make time. Schedule accordingly. Get a routine down. Use tools like check in sheets or tablets if your store has them. ✅ It really only needs to take 5 minuets if your in a rush to get the essentials noted. —— I’m Chris Craig.
