Do you know what's happening here as fuel escapes from this aircraft's wing? It's actually a deliberate act known as 'Fuel Dumping' or 'Fuel Jettison' Well, fuel dumping is primarily done in emergency situations when the weight of an aircraft needs to be quickly reduced before making an emergency landing. This is typically done to ensure that the aircraft lands within its maximum landing limits for safety concerns. Fuel dumping is not carried out arbitrarily by pilots; instead, specific procedures and regulations are in place to govern the process, ensuring safety measures are adhered to and environmental impact is minimized. Pilots typically coordinate with air traffic control (ATC) to determine a safe and appropriate location for fuel dumping, usually over designated areas or at high altitudes where the fuel can disperse more effectively. SOME ROOT CAUSES REGARDING FUEL LEAK FROM DRY BAY. i. Adhesion failure was due to workmanship and the improper surface preparation for the dam Installation at the noted location (Refer Figures 2, 3 & 4). ii. Furthermore, a pressurized leak test at the supplier was not carried out properly to identify any potential leaks. iii. Additionally, it should be noted that although this Fleet team digest (FTD) pertains to the LH wing, there exists a possibility that the same reported defect may occur in the RH wing as well. #aviation #aircraftmaintenance #b737

Our TKS anti-ice protection system has been designed to protect all leading edges of an aircraft, including wings, stabilizers and struts, as well as the propeller and windshield. A fluid based system the quantities of fluid used are very low, with a typical pilot filling their TKS reservoir just once or twice per winter season. The topping up process is simple too, as fluid can easily be transferred from cannisters. However, when we were asked if there was anything we could do to make the task every easier, we listened, and introduced the TKS Automatic Ground Source Pump. Powered by alkaline batteries, it has an auto-stop to prevent spillage and has been designed specifically for use with TKS fluids. Post 6: Handling Diversions 🔄 Fuel Situational Awareness: Managing Diversions 🔄   In scenarios where we determine during a flight that we will face low fuel levels at our destination or adverse weather conditions may require a long re-route, deciding to divert is a critical step. We must have the skills to calculate if we can reach the new destination with sufficient fuel reserves. First thought, start conserving fuel immediately. Know how to determine your max range power setting for your aircraft and pull the power back while you figure out your plan. Use all resources available to you, that’s good CRM. Your co-pilot, FMS/ FMC, dispatch and ATC are all available to help you make a decision on where to go and how to get there. Prioritize safety when assessing your fuel status and communicate your diversion plans and fuel status to dispatch for confirmation. Then let ATC know what you need. Effective fuel management is a crucial skill.
