Last month, I posted about the urgent need to decarbonise the built environment, which contributes nearly 40% of global carbon emissions. Now, we turn our attention to another major emitter: the transportation industry, responsible for roughly one-fifth of global emissions. Road transport accounts for approximately three-quarters of transport emissions, including passenger vehicles (cars and buses) and trucks carrying freight. The aviation industry also plays a significant role, encompassing not just planes themselves but the associated travel of passengers and extensive logistics involved. While individual actions like switching to an electric vehicle are important, the uptake of EVs has been slower than expected, and the effects of a large-scale shift may not be felt if vehicles are underutilised and embodied emissions are still substantial. In contrast, high-mileage vehicle operations like heavy goods vehicles, taxis, and public buses, can yield considerable emissions reductions. Intercity coaches, covering vast distances with multiple passengers, exemplify the potential impact of efficient electrification. Meaningful progress requires concerted efforts from enterprises and governments, rather than passing the onus to individual consumers. Electric vehicles offer promise, but hydrogen innovation is also gaining traction, particularly for heavy goods vehicles. Hydrogen vehicles offer distinct advantages, including longer ranges and faster refueling times, and are more suitable for applications where weight is a critical factor, such as long-haul transport. While individual choices matter, systemic changes driven by industry and policy are essential for achieving significant emissions reductions in the transportation sector. Collaboration between stakeholders, along with continued investment in both EV and hydrogen technologies, will be crucial in transitioning towards a more sustainable transport system. #Decarbonisation #Transportation #CorporateFinance

🇪🇺 Five things you should know about electric cars. ‘Transport is responsible for one quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, and road transport makes up 70% of that amount.’ Hence the need to move to zero tailpipe emission forms of getting from A to B. This is a really neat summary of just some of the facts (and benefits of) electric cars, covering: 🌱 Environment - EVs have a lower carbon footprint than petrol & diesel cars 🔋 Batteries - increasingly efficient, sustainably sourced and recyclable 🛞 Range and charging - range continues to increase, as does the charging network 💴 Cost - EVs are cheaper to run, with price parity on the horizon (second hand EVs in UK are already there) ✅ Safety - EVs are safe to drive and charge #electricvehicles EVA England Women Drive Electric https://lnkd.in/et88xsbz

Dear Connicts, Here is an article content about electric vehicles in 250 words: Electric vehicles (EVs) are revolutionizing the way we travel, offering a cleaner, greener, and more efficient alternative to traditional gas-powered cars. With zero tailpipe emissions, EVs significantly reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future. EVs are also cost-effective, with lower operating costs compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. They require less maintenance, as they have fewer moving parts and no oil changes are needed. Additionally, many governments offer incentives and tax credits to encourage the adoption of EVs. The technology behind EVs is rapidly advancing, with improvements in battery life, range, and charging speed. Many EV models now offer a range of over 200 miles on a single charge, making them a practical option for daily use. Fast-charging stations can replenish the battery to 80% in under 30 minutes, alleviating range anxiety. As the world shifts towards a more sustainable future, electric vehicles are becoming an increasingly popular choice for environmentally conscious consumers. With their numerous benefits, EVs are poised to transform the automotive industry and play a significant role in reducing our carbon footprint. #SNSINSTUTATION #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

This article from The Washington Post takes a deep dive into the impacts that transitioning to EV fleets will have on the environment, as well as how companies operate their fleets. While much of the EV discussion focuses on the rate of EV car adoption, the article notes that: "While trucks are only 4 percent of the vehicles on the road, they make up almost a quarter of the country’s transportation emissions." That means trucks are 6x dirtier than their vehicle share would indicate, and climate goals can not be attained without widespread EV fleet electrification. Electrada is excited to be part of the solution that makes truck fleets cleaner by accelerating their transition to EVs with a complete electric fuel solution that's fully capitalized, managed, and performance-guaranteed. https://hubs.la/Q02jvQQw0 #electrada #washingtonpost #evfleet #emobility

The clock is ticking! ⏱️⚡ Do you know that we don't have the luxury of time when it comes to transitioning to electric vehicles? The climate crisis and our sustainability goals demand urgency! What's intriguing is that many people still ponder on the feasibility of EVs. However, let me assure you, EVs are not only an excellent environmental choice but a sound business decision too. As an advocate for electric vehicles, I can confidently say that they offer a multitude of benefits. They are less expensive to operate and maintain compared to traditional gas-powered cars. Plus, the driving experience is smooth and silent which can't be beat! More importantly, it reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and decreases carbon emissions significantly. When it comes to local incentives for electric vehicle adoption - they're increasingly available across various states in our country. From tax credits and rebates to carpool lane access and free parking - these incentives are facilitating the transition faster than ever. Although we've come a long way, there's still much left to do. It's time for all stakeholders - government agencies, automakers, utilities, tech companies and consumers - to join hands in this mission. With collaboration, innovation and determination - we can steer towards a sustainable future driving on the highways of electrification! #EVs #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #Collaboration #Affila
