What is the best immunosuppressive regimen for PSC patients after liver transplantation? Approximately 5% of all liver transplantations (LT) are annually performed for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). However, the optimal immunosuppressive regimen for PSC after LT remains controversial. This retrospective PSC registry-based study published in the Journal of Hepatology revealed that the use of tacrolimus as the initial immunosuppressive regimen demonstrates superior 10-year patient survival and graft survival compared to cyclosporine. These findings remained consistent across subgroups, including age, sex, registry, time period of LT, MELD score, and diabetes status, thereby supporting tacrolimus as the standard calcineurin inhibitor employed after LT for patients with PSC. #OpenAccess here: https://lnkd.in/dfyVgeAH Fredrik Åberg ESOT - European Society for Organ Transplantation EASL | The Home of Hepatology

I would like to share with you a study where we examined preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative parameters to assess the safety of living donor liver transplantation in the geriatric age group. We found similar outcomes compared to younger patients.
