It all started with this: 'Yuen, we really need your help!' Let me give you some context, University of Lincoln School of Pharmacy reached out as they are struggling to ensure all students have General Practice placements - 40 students short to be exact. I initially provided placements for a handful but for 40 students in less than 4 weeks, I knew I had to think creatively. Step 1: Create a model that fulfils criteria for Year 2 students Step 2: Make it interactive and fun Step 3: Figure out how to do it logistically Step 4: Gather feedback Step 5: Hope the University accepts the proposal! This is a pilot and I have no idea what they think yet but I just couldn't bear the thought that some Year 2 students will not able to see what it is like to work in a Practice.. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow! #generalpractice #placement #pharmacy #pilot #student

Do you underestimate your achievements and abilities? If you are anything like me, the answer is yes. 4 weeks ago, I started precepting PharmD students first time from Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. ->My EPE-1 student completes rotation this week, and APPE-3 student completes next week. ->My third student starts 5 week rotation for APPE-3 the week after. Its been an incredible learning opportunity both ways and I had no idea how big this milestone is in my career until I attended a recent event where it was mentioned...."precepting students for the first time is a big milestone and achievement in any pharmacist's career... " and I am thinking ow well I didn't think of it that way. I had not one but 2 students at the same time for the first time around.. followed by a third. So double achievement? or triple? Sometimes we need small reminders to celebrate and help us realize the magnitude of things... Or maybe just learn to celebrate oneself more often for little things! 👋 I will share more details in my next post about the wonderful things we did during the special time I had with my students.. #selfreflection #achievements #preceptor #impostersyndrome

" I started my degree at UAGC a few months after a breast cancer diagnosis. I realized there were more things I wanted to accomplish, and my education was one of those things. I tried many classes before settling on a major. The Criminal Justice Program professors were amazing. They were engaged in discussions, quick to answer, and even gave amazing feedback. They were always patient with my treatment schedules and gave me time when I was having a not-so-good chemo day. Right before I completed my BA, one of my favorite professors suggested I look at the master's program. In 2021, I graduated with my BA in criminal justice* and celebrated with a virtual ceremony due to COVID. That same year, I entered into remission with my cancer. In 2022, I decided to pursue that master's degree and am set to walk the stage for the first time ever in my adult life in the spring of 2024. UAGC is full of compassionate, caring, and understating staff, teachers, administrators, and even some amazing students. This journey has been possible while doing radiation, chemotherapy, working full time, and caring for two children in my home. With the support of my fellow students, faculty, and family, I am beyond proud to be UAGC." – Sarah Adkins #MyUAGC *Successful completion of a degree program at the University of Arizona Global Campus by itself does not lead to licensure or certification in any state, regardless of concentration or specialization.
