On the CTMT Substack, we're talking about the value of college journalism. We're seeing college journalists fill more gaps in providing local news, including breaking some big stories. Because everything to us at CTMT is all about trust, we're thinking about the role college journalists play in building trust in local news. https://lnkd.in/ezbYG5Z6

I'm honored that "The Future of Business Journalism: Why it Matters for Wall and Main Street" was chose by CHOICE magazine as one of its "Outstanding Academic Titles" for the past year. (Thanks to my editor Hilary C.!) CHOICE is a publishing unit of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Its reviews and picks are closely guarded and highly respected. It wrote, "Overall, this book offers time-tested and novel solutions to repair business reporting in an era in which access to meaningful, trustworthy news is crucial." Summing Up: Highly recommended. Undergraduates through faculty; general readers; practitioners. You can get it for 30% off by using the code TGUF: https://lnkd.in/esMkfAjp.

"It's a weird time for media..." I might have understated that a fair bit. It's a scary time for the business of journalism, and the industry is going to need to see some real innovation, not in how we tell stories, but in how we SELL the value of that storytelling to advertisers. In an age where everyone is part of the media, how do media outlets set themselves apart and prove their worth? Might be time for a big Canadian media summit or something guys ;) #mediaindustry #journalism #mediaplanning #mediabuying
Ryan Stutt shares a candid view on the media industry's transformation. From the blend of advertising and content to the merging of major publications, it's a crucial time for innovation in journalism. How do we preserve journalistic integrity while adapting to new realities? #MediaEvolution #JournalismFuture

I'm so excited that this project on which I served as deputy editor is out in the world! Many thanks to Tamar Wilner for asking me to participate. If you know me, you know that I've spent time as an academic journalism researcher and as a media practitioner. One of the most frustrating things to witness was the lack of substantial communication between the two "camps." This white paper examines how we got here and what we need to do to work together better. In a time when trust in our journalism institutions is so low, we must band together to keep the public informed in a way that helps people improve their lives. Do you need someone to help your news organization understand its audience and best fulfill its editorial and strategic mission? Give me a shout. Link to the full paper in the comments.
