What are the Educational, Health, or Economic Benefits to these Players and their Families for that kids uncompensated participation in any additional “NON-SCHOLARSHIP” private third-party postseason football games that pay the Universities and the Conferences for the use of their free labor to put on these highly profitable Bowl events. The answer is ZERO! These additional 1-5 POSTSEASON games are also above the Players’ 12 game athletic scholarship agreement? Our Proposal offers Major Benefits in all three Categories to the Players and their Families! Scholarship Football Players are owed Hundreds of Millions of dollars from this year’s Media contract that uses these Players’ Name, Image, and Likeness NIL without any equitable financial consideration to the Players or their Families! This lost Money could have a major impact on these Players lives, the lives of their current and future family members for generations? We do not support, or agree with the House vs NCAA Settlement or the current covert attempts to extend and expand this Antitrust exploitation of our young (mostly minority) FB & BB Players' labor that the US Supreme Court and Federal District Court have recently struck down as illegal and implausible.
On Sunday night, I was awarded the highest honor of the event, the Joseph Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award at the L.A. Press Club’s 66th SoCal Journalism Awards. Regardless of all the success I have achieved as a journalist and host of First Take, this award heightens my awareness of the responsibility that I have to be in tireless pursuit of the truth and to be fair and humane along the way. The honor is the most important and gratifying honor of my professional career, and I call on journalists “to keep standing up for the truth” and against subjective interpretations of the truth in these uncertain times “when facts and truth and journalism seem to matter less.”

Looking for truth-seekers in a world full of alternative facts. With the ad market contracting and newsrooms getting gutted, journalism finally gets some good news. CUNY becomes the first journalism graduate school to offer a tuition-free program. In a world full of turmoil, it's not exactly breaking news to see how the decline of journalism and the rise of misinformation and political divisiveness are related. Journalism, investigative reporting and editorial content play major roles in educating the world. Yet over the past decade, the U.S. has lost one-third of its newspapers and two-thirds of its newspaper journalists since 2005. And to make things worse, audiences are shrinking for several older types of news media such as local TV stations, most newspapers and public radio even as they grow for newer platforms like podcasts, as well as for a few specific media brands. The move at CUNY is aimed at helping to widen opportunities for journalists from more diverse backgrounds, which is the key. One-fifth of U.S. residents now live in news deserts, where residents have very limited access to credible and comprehensive news and information. And for cynics of journalism, you can't argue with that fact that we're now seeing increased political polarization, political corruption and outlets that spread misinformation. The crisis in news reporting isn't an exaggeration, it's an existential threat. It's also an underappreciated aspect of our fast-eroding democracy https://lnkd.in/gCanbBzc #journalism #cuny #students #university #education #news #newsrooms #democracy

On the CTMT Substack, we're talking about the value of college journalism. We're seeing college journalists fill more gaps in providing local news, including breaking some big stories. Because everything to us at CTMT is all about trust, we're thinking about the role college journalists play in building trust in local news. https://lnkd.in/ezbYG5Z6
Student journalism is becoming more vital to local news, and colleges should recognize how important that is for trust-building
