The Sunday Times included a large feature on the delays in the Family Court.  Stacey Wellings' comments (and my own) highlight that the current issues are a result of: - significant underfunding over decades, not just of the FCWA, but the peripheral Departments like DCPFS and Legal Aid.   - The Court currently does not have enough courtrooms to facilitate all judicial officers sitting at the same time.  Even if there were enough of them, there are not enough courtrooms to facilitate them all sitting. I don't agree with the gendered slant on the delay at all- delay causes injustice to male and female litigants, and irreparable emotional harm to children.  Making the issue gendered is a distraction.  Time for the Federal AG's department to start properly funding Legal Aid offices nationwide so that we can actually do our jobs and get these people out of court and moving forward.
