Fantastic campaign by Burger King in collaboration with Les Papillions! Disturbingly, 1 in 10 children in France falls victim to bullying, a staggering statistic that demands our collective attention to comprehend the severity of the situation. And it is not only France obviously! Burger King France has taken a stance, leveraging its brand, restaurants, and social platforms to launch an impactful awareness campaign: - The final letter of "Burger King" is now in grayscale. - Every tenth table in the restaurants has been accented in grey. - Each tenth Burger is now wrapped in grey paper. - Every tenth bag of chips is now packed in a grey bag. - Every tenth ordering machine proudly bears the grey branding. - A grey hue adorns every tenth paper cup. - Even the take-away bags, every tenth of them, are now grey. This clever visual cue prompts customers to notice the difference, encouraging them to reflect on the prevalence of bullying affecting every tenth child. This initiative adds to Burger King's track record of impactful awareness campaigns. In a previous endeavour, they ran an effective SMS campaign, sending offensive text messages to simulate the experience of a bullied child (screenshot in a comment). Exactly one year ago, Nurul Fathma Munap and I wrote this piece for KFC Ramadan Raya. "Kita ni selalu tidur dekat serambi lepas makan raya, pastu mesti pergi KFC Masjid Tanah abah belanja semua... during our nap, we start dreaming wildly because we're so full, but we snap back to reality when we're abruptly awakened." if it's like a 60-second spot. However, the reality is that it's a 15-second ad selling chicken, and not to forget LTO is Arabian Spice Crunch/Burger. To be honest, it's kind of funny. Getting backlash from netizens picking on the wardrobe, saying it's sexy attire because it falls during Ramadan, the holy month (which is not the case, the wardrobe is fine). The media ran the wrong assets (Raya for Ramadan. But we are human?). For us, it's always about the messaging we want to deliver, the abundance that we share with everyone during the holy month. Papepun, I'm still proud of it, even though it only aired for 2 weeks instead of 2 months 😁 Apart from that, what I love the most is working with the director, Munshen. This is the third campaign I've collaborated on with him for KFC. His enthusiasm for food is always a delight—he never fails to deliver more, constantly exploring new ideas on set. *additionally, KFC had their first twitter emoji for this campaign 🤗 What I learned, 1. I forget that our efforts may result in the audience only seeing "nice" ads and forgot to look at the messaging. 2. It's not the end of the world; it's just another bump. 3. Fun. Always have fun on sets. I mean, I AM FUN.
