Everyone has the right to ask an organisation for copies of information held about them. Some disabled people may experience communication difficulties and may therefore have difficulty making a subject access request (SAR). Every organisation has a legal duty to make reasonable adjustments if they wish to make a request. ❓ What is a reasonable adjustment will depend on the specific needs of the individual? Before responding to a SAR you should talk to the person to find out how best to meet their needs. This may be by providing the response in a particular format that is accessible to the person, including Braille. If an individual thinks you have failed to make a reasonable adjustment, they can make a claim under the Equality Act 2010 or the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (NI). We have more information and guidance on our website: https://lnkd.in/euA-RMXt

Networking as a student is so out of my comfort zone. Going and striking a conversation with random people in various industries is something I find both difficult and enjoyable at the same time. One thing which these events really help in is to build the skill of active listening. When I first started attending networking events, I felt overwhelmed by the prospect of approaching professionals and engaging in meaningful conversations. The fear of saying the wrong thing or not being able to keep up with the discussion often held me back. However, as I attended more events and forced myself out of my comfort zone, I began to realize the value of active listening. Active listening isn't just about hearing what someone says; it's about fully understanding their perspective, thoughts, and emotions. In a networking setting, it's crucial for building rapport, establishing connections, and learning from others' experiences. I'm excited to continue honing my active listening skills and building meaningful connections in the vibrant community of professionals on LinkedIn and beyond! Let's connect and learn from each other! Young Engineers Australia SA 🌟 #Networking #ActiveListening #ProfessionalGrowth #StudentLife #BuildingConnections 🤝📚

Diving into the world of networking as a student has been like stepping onto a lively dance floor—it's both challenging and exhilarating. Mingling with individuals from diverse industries is a delightful yet tricky performance, an art form I'm still perfecting. Engaging in spontaneous conversations at these events is a rollercoaster of difficulty and enjoyment. Initially, networking felt like entering a maze where approaching seasoned professionals seemed like a daunting task. The fear of stumbling over words or lagging in conversations created a mental roadblock. Yet, as I pushed past these initial hesitations and ventured beyond my comfort zone, a transformative realization unfolded—the power of active listening. Active listening, beyond merely hearing words, became my secret weapon. It's the key to unlocking rapport, forging connections, and mining insights from others' experiences in the networking realm. Excited to sharpen my active listening skills, I look forward to weaving meaningful connections in the vibrant professional tapestry on LinkedIn and beyond! Let's connect and embark on this journey of mutual discovery ! Thanks to Engineers Australia & Young Engineers Australia SA. #networking #engineers #building #studentlife
