As the global supply chain continues to evolve, it's becoming increasingly clear that mastering it requires a delicate balance beyond traditional metrics. It is about navigating through the complexities of cost, speed, and sustainability. In the latest eCom Logistics Podcast episode, Tom Schmitt, Former Chairman & CEO, Forward Air Corporation, where he deep-dives into what he calls the three "currencies" of the supply chain. Here are the key takeaways: 1️⃣ Cost and Efficiency: Balancing the cost of logistics operations with the need for efficiency is critical. The focus is on minimizing expenses while optimizing processes to maintain a competitive edge. 2️⃣ Service Level Expectations: The demand for faster and more reliable service is shaping the logistics industry. Businesses are challenged to meet these expectations without compromising on cost or sustainability. 3️⃣ Sustainability and Carbon Footprint: There's an increasing emphasis on the environmental impact of supply chain operations. Companies are now integrating sustainability into their core strategies, aiming to reduce their carbon footprint while still achieving efficiency and service excellence. 4️⃣ Finding the Sweet Spot: The intersection of cost, service, and sustainability is where businesses aim to operate. This balance is dynamic and requires constant adaptation to changing market demands and global trends. 5️⃣ Influence of External Factors: Geopolitical shifts and global trends are influencing the importance and approach to each of these elements. Companies must remain agile and responsive to maintain this delicate balance. Curious to learn more? NUSH’S RESOURCE OF THE DAY~ Manufacturing Culture Podcast hosted by Jim Mayer with guest Danny Hill Jr. “If I feel as though I can’t grow no more, then it’s time for me to go.”. Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself to leadership, because if you want to grow you need to take the first step. I am always hungry to learn more and do more, that is what sets me apart from others, and what can help you unlock more potential. “Leadership looks for faults instead of potential in employees”, which is why it is so hard for front line workers and operators to move up within their companies. And that’s why a lot of them leave… to make more $$ somewhere else, to get better benefits and a healthier more supportive culture, or to pursue a different career altogether. For employees, make your company want to invest in you by not only doing your job but also advocating for what you want in your position, your future, and how you want to grow. And for companies, invest in your employees. They make your wheels spin round. Without them where would you be? ALL I CAN SAY IS DONT BE AFRAID OF CHANGE , EMBRACE IT Nush #nushsresourceoftheday #manufacturing #machining #manufacturingexcellence #cncmachining #womeninmanufacturing #womeninstem #cncswiss #networking #machinelearning #manufacturingindustry #manufacturingtechnology #manufacturingprocesses #manufacturingrevolution #machinist #cncmachinist #cncswissmachinist #womanmachinist #podcast

VP Integrated Marketing Healthcare | Digital Trailblazer, Strategist, & Brand Builder | Driving Revenue Growth by Executing Digital Solutions to Create Innovative Prospect & Customer Experiences
I re-discovered new ways of incorporating learning into my daily life over the last couple of months. I am going to try to keep this up, and figured I’d share some of the snack-sized things that are sticking with me as I go forward. First one, from a McKinsey podcast, about prioritizing for leaders: what are your tuxedo priorities (outwardly-facing) and your pajama priorities (internal)? I love this way of framing objectives because so often OKRs are only tied to things like revenue and profits, which de-prioritizes things that make running your business more efficient and enjoyable. When you only focus on external results, you forget about creating, maintaining and optimizing internal system usability, culture wins, overcoming tech debt, and building foundational innovation for the future. I guess what I’m saying is, I live half my life in my pajamas, and my home life is just as important to the accomplishments I make out in the world. Why shouldn’t leaders think about prioritizing things that make that life under the covers better and more efficient? I wish I could credit the person who created this tuxedo / pajama construction - I love it and I will incorporate this thinking going forward!
