Please share with anybody you think might be interested in working for a great School District. Here are some benefits of this position! Flexible Schedule: These programs typically operate before and after school hours, allowing students to work around their class schedules. This flexibility is ideal for balancing work, studies, and personal commitments. No Weekends: Unlike many part-time jobs, Before and After Care positions are generally limited to weekdays. This means no weekend shifts, giving students the chance to relax, study, or engage in other activities during their free time. It offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in child supervision, classroom management, and lesson planning, which are essential for a future career in teaching.

3 steps you should take before making an application for any job at a MAT/school. I would suggest: First, collecting all the information that you can on the MAT - that could mean asking for the information if it's not freely available. Be proactive with that. Secondly, I would always make it explicit that ‘this is who I am’ and ‘this is why I would have impact with the students in your trust’. So that you’re talking about the specificity of your practice but also that specificity of the context of this trust. Thirdly, I'm pretty full on when I write applications - I literally map every single point in the job description and person spec and make sure I've made it overt in the application how I meet or exceed the ask of that criteria. Some people find that a bit intense, but if you want the job, that's where you’ve got to be. At Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust we are hiring for our first Director of Education to lead us through our next stage of growth. My DMs are open for an informal chat. Deadline for applications Fri 15th March.

I asked a group of hiring managers what are the biggest strengths when hiring transitioning teachers, and here are some of their responses: "Willingness to do a good job and work hard for their new role. Openness to trying new programs and ways of doing work." "Communication skills, project management and organization skills." "Their ability to problem solve, be flexible, hunger for growth and making an impact, passion, and empathy." "Work ethic, professionalism, enthusiasm, most are eager to learn." I also asked them their concerns, and here's what a few said: "Speaking to stakeholders in a professional manner has been a problem for a few." "It may take them a few months to fully understand how things work in the business world." I'll start with the bad news. Yes, there is a trend of #transitioningteachers using LinkedIn in a way that can be seen as unprofessional. If you are only connected with people newer to the platform, it can feel easy to fall into the trap of using it like you would FB or IG. Please don't! The good news is there are hiring managers open to hiring teachers for other positions and know your value. It might take a good amount of elbow grease and grit to get your foot in the door, but don't give up if you know it's what you truly want. If you need help, check out teachercareercoach.com for resources that have helped thousands of teachers in their transition outside of the classroom. PS: My DMs are always open for recruiters and hiring managers, I'll happily relay your advice anonymously to this audience. <3

Experienced Educator Creating Impactful Learning Experiences | Instructional Design & Curriculum Experience | Data-Driven, Innovative, Collaborative
So true! Teachers have so many sought-after skills, but unfortunately we often get seen as a glorified babysitter. In my time as an educator, I have: -Navigated unprecedented and new educational norms during the Covid-19 pandemic by running synchronous and asynchronous virtual classrooms through various LMS platforms -Planned and managed many projects -Throughly assessed students through frequent evaluations and analyzed data to make determinations about successes and needed changes -Communicated frequently with community stakeholders (parents!) -Created assessments and curricular resources -Created and ran content workshops -Consistently improved strategies to sell my stakeholders (students!) on content -And so much more! So please don't pass on a teacher because they spent the last 5+ years in a classroom environment. We do all of this and more every single day! #TransitioningTeachers
Yes, I agree… transitioning teachers may be the unicorn that recruiters and hiring managers are looking for. You know who else is a unicorn? Recruiters and hiring managers who take to time to give transitioning teachers a chance. Transitioning teachers are master communicators, and they know how to leverage their experience to provide value wherever they are.
