Integration of DMS & OMS Offers Advancements for In-Cabin Monitoring https://lnkd.in/ejn9rWqc In-cabin monitoring, comprising both Driver Monitoring System (DMS) and Occupancy Monitoring System (OMS), has experienced significant growth since the start of 2024. Traditionally, DMS relies on 2D infrared cameras, while OMS utilizes 3D sensing modules like 3D time-of-flight (ToF) cameras or radar modules. At CES 2024, Melexis and emotional3D unveiled a 3D ToF-based solution that integrates both DMS and OMS into a single camera. This solution employs Melexis' automotive-qualified MLX75027, a true VGA ToF imager, along with emotion3D's CABIN EYE software to simultaneously generate IR and distance images. The MLX75027 imager boasts a maximum FPS (frames per second) of 120 and a 110° field of view, simplifying the traditional setup requiring two cameras. However, IDTechEx observed that it offers lower resolution compared to traditional 2D IR cameras. Continue reading this article here - Author: Yulin Wang, Senior Technology Analyst at IDTechEx

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 At Envirolapse, we often get asked if a simple, cheap, and cheerful webcam can do the job for a particular project. The answer? Well, it depends. CCTV and Webcams for example can be small, discreet and rapidly deployable systems that certainly have their place - and advantages - such as live recording, enhanced AI, and motion detection. However, if the project requirements need wider area coverage with the best possible resolution and the ability to zoom into significant detail, a full-frame sensor is the way to go. For example, a typical CCTV/Webcam with a 1/1.8 inch sensor is significantly smaller than one of our systems deployed with a full-frame sensor, in fact we can fit 20 of these CCTV/Webcam sensors onto just one of our high resolution camera sensors! There are numerous benefits and advantages of full-frame sensors - superior dynamic range being one example - which provide superior pixel-level depth, allowing the ability to capture a greater range of light and dark areas in a single shot, thus providing more detailed and nuanced images. This is especially important in challenging lighting conditions often found in harsh environments when processing the images post capture for various purposes. We specialize in robust ultra-high-resolution imaging systems, engineered to work in the harshest environments—from the frigid Antarctica to braving the elements (and kea!) in New Zealand's rugged alpine areas. So rather than talk about it, just how good is the quality of full-frame imagery? We're excited to share this timelapse which features an example of how much detail can be captured, with access available remotely from our deployment for DOC in Fiordland National Park in New Zealand, which is used for weather observations, enhancing operational awareness for aviators in the busy airspace. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and our team will help determine the optimal solution for your needs.

Suitcase instance segmentation + separate masking Ultralytics 🙊 ⚽ 👜 🔗 Code: https://lnkd.in/dEvtNJEz 💡 In the aviation industry, instance segmentation can play an important role in effective luggage handling and could provide analytics of luggage flows alongside enhancing security. Here are my implementation steps: ✅ Initially, object segmentation has been performed with Ultralytics YOLOv8. 🐨 Created separate frames, that override the dimension of the original image. 🔥 Plotted all masks separately for a clear view of space allocation in the conveyor belt. 🛫 The aviation field is just starting to use computer vision technologies. Still, there are many opportunities here and we can expect computer vision use cases to grow in the coming years in this domain. #computervision #aviation #objectsegmentation #objectdetection #yolov8

✨ Have you heard of laser-induced plasma displays? Most probably not (I hadn't until recently!) but they are a VERY cool piece of tech which ionizes molecules to create glowing points of light. These points of light can be in various colours and form shapes and patterns in the air. It’s basically like a hologram but there’s no need for a screen! Each bit of glowing light is called a ‘voxel’ (a pixel in 3D space) and is created with a laser firing hundreds of thousands of times per second so you don’t want to touch these voxels or you’ll get burned. However in already exciting news, scientists at NIT at the University of Tokyo have used a different type of laser (called a femtosecond laser) and this has created a plasma display which is safe to touch. These ‘fairy light’ could be used to create a firework-eqsue display in an alternative to drones which are now widely being used, and who knows, if the tech gets good enough potentially they will allow for hologram-like conversations with beamed-in people that you can walk around in 360degrees. https://lnkd.in/eUtq8yd8

Workswell Thermograhic Analysis Software JBUAS is a distributor of Workswell UAV thermal cameras in the UK. When users purchase a Workswell Thermal Camera, they get unfettered access to Workswell’s premier thermal analysis software package - Thermolab. Thermolab enables detailed analysis of thermograms, allowing the user to edit the data into different formats and create clear reports. All standard data analysis functions are available in the program (the temperature at a point, minimum and maximum of the area, temperature profile, zoom, temperature scale change, color palette, emissivity, etc.) as well as extended functions such as GPS location of the image and the ability to display RGB digital images. 3D Graphs This feature takes thermographic analysis to the next level. With this feature, we can spatially represent significant temperature differences and determine the severity of a possible defect. Video Analysis The advantage of calibrated radiometric video is the ability to monitor temperature changes over time. This allows the user to accurately analyse dynamic thermal processes that cannot be analysed from a single image. Fast Exports Thermolab’s export function makes it easy to create a snapshot, video or numerical temperature matrix in commonly compatible formats. Thermolab provides users with a complete artistic licence to change measurement parameters, utilise unique measurement options, instigate the thermographic image zoom function, and take advantage of the RGB with Thermal display options. For further information on Workswell thermal cameras, the in-flight operating system (WIOS), or Thermolab, see here: https://lnkd.in/eiP6AeTZ #Workswell #thermalcamera #thermalimaging #droneinspection #droneinspections #infrared
