Great article that shows the challenges but also what can be achieved when focusing on developing an inclusive community. ‘The school prides itself on being inclusive – no child has been permanently excluded for six years. If pupils are struggling in mainstream lessons, rather than send to alternative provision outside the school, there are special provisions within school that offer a full curriculum and extra support, followed by reintegration.’ Schools should, in my opinion, serve and support their communities and not turn themselves into exam processing lines where the awkward looking student is either rejected (isolated or marginalised) or ejected totally. To make a difference, from my experiences when head of behaviour in an academy school, you need to focus on causes and not symptoms, and build structures to support students needs to develop an inclusive culture.

"I have previously written an article on the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. However, in the current climate, where many students are learning from home, I feel it is vital to reiterate the significance of parents taking an active role in their child’s education. It is not enough to rely solely on teachers to provide education; parents must also be involved. There are many ways for parents to get involved, including attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering at school, helping with homework, and having regular communication with teachers. By working together, parents and teachers can create successful partnerships that contribute to a child’s academic and social development." #ParentalInvolvement #AcademicSuccess #ParentTeacherPartnerships #VolunteerAtSchool #HomeworkHelp #RegularCommunication #ChildDevelopment #EducationStrategies #FamilyEngagement #SchoolSuccess #SupportiveParents #StudentGrowth #PositiveSchoolEnvironment #TeacherCollaboration #MexitNews
