Can Work Really Control Our Unpaid Lunch Break Activities? #WorkLife #LunchBreaks #EmployeeRights Hey everyone! 🌟 I’ve got a question that's been on my mind lately: If work says we can’t head to our cars during break times, can they really control our time on our unpaid lunch? 🤔 Here’s what I’m thinking: Paid Breaks = Company Rules: Sure, during paid breaks, they can set some ground rules. That makes sense, right? Unpaid Lunch = Our Time: But when it comes to unpaid lunch, shouldn’t we have more freedom to decide what we want to do? 🚗💼 Balance is Key: It feels like there should be a balance where employees can decompress without being restricted. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Are there any work policies you've come across that feel a bit too controlling? How do you deal with your breaks? Here are a few specific things you could share: Your workplace break policies Any tips for making the most of your unpaid lunch Experiences with setting boundaries at work Let’s open up this discussion! It’s important to chat about our rights as employees and how we can have time to recharge. 💬✨ Can’t wait to hear your stories!

It's so important to remember that all learning (after high school) has to be intentional. Regardless of your work environment - you need to be proactive and get curious, ask questions, be vulnerable in not knowing and intentionally connect with colleagues, mentors and friends that you can and want to learn from.
At Green Room, we couldn’t be prouder of our work-from-anywhere policy. We firmly believe in the power of work-life integration, balancing professional excellence with personal fulfillment. Supporting our teams in this endeavor means enabling them to work from home, where they can be most productive, comfortable, and inspired. This approach not only fosters flexibility and trust but also makes the moments we get together in person even more special. Just take this coffee shop meetup as proof - our two amazing Salt Lake City ladies enjoying some face-to-face time over great coffee and even better company. ☕ Here’s to building a culture that supports thriving both professionally and personally, wherever our work may take us. Happy feelings and happy work : Happy hour A team happy hour is a great way to encourage your team members to get to know each other. When you get out of the office and into a more casual setting, it can help people relax and be open to conversation. Don’t hesitate to get creative here, either. Happy hour doesn’t just have to mean going to the bar next door. For example, you could host a “Paint and Sip” happy hour, where employees get a canvas, paint, and a glass of wine to drink while they hang out. Whether it’s virtual or in-person, having time dedicated to fun, not work, will create space for plenty of team bonding.

In a world where "back to the office" mandates are trending across my LinkedIn feed, I'm reminded of the value of creating moments that foster true face-to-face engagement. As you can see below, our team has embraced this mindset, and it’s been a powerful tool for collaboration and growth. As a leader across two different organizations, one of my biggest challenges is ensuring remote work doesn't hinder employee development. Looking back on my own career, some of my most transformative growth moments happened simply by being in the office—listening, observing, and absorbing. Although I didn’t always appreciate it from the confines of my cubicle, I now see the immense value in overhearing a colleague skillfully handle a client call or watching a fellow reporter conduct a key interview. These informal, everyday moments were where I learned essential skills—after all, PR is all about relationships! As we navigate new ways of working, let’s collaborate with managers and HR teams to intentionally create opportunities for growth. We’re fortunate to be in an industry where the physical office isn't a barrier to our success, but it’s still important to seek out those meaningful in-person interactions. We won’t mandate office time, but we strongly encourage you to seek each other out—get curious, collaborate, and, most importantly, embrace opportunities to shadow and learn from your peers. And when you do have the chance to be in the office, don’t isolate yourself. There’s so much more to be gained from the informal, spontaneous exchanges that happen when you’re surrounded by your team. Sometimes, the best learning doesn’t come from an online course—it’s from being present, observing, and engaging with the people around you. Growth isn't confined to any one space. It’s about the willingness to learn, to be curious, and to find value in the connections we make—wherever they happen. Yes, Caroline Rigdon - there is something special about connecting and exchanging ideas in-person! Let’s keep moving forward, together.

From the makers of quiet quitting comes #CoffeeBadging. ☕ 🪪 🤔 What is coffee badging❓ ☕ Employees show up just long enough to grab a coffee, chat with a colleague, and flash their "badge" to prove they were in the office before heading back to work remotely. 🤩 The solution❓ 💡 Patrick Lencioni’s The Six Types of Working Genius teaches us that everyone thrives when they operate in their "working genius" the work that energizes them. Coffee badging could be a sign that organizations should reassess not just where people work, but how they work. ⭐ Are we fostering environments where employees' strengths are tapped, where innovation is celebrated, and where outcomes take center stage❓ ⭐ When work matters, people stop clocking in, and they start showing up. ⭐
How Employees Are Coffee Badging To Avoid Full Days At The Office
