Will U.S. and European elections in 2024 put the brakes on the fight against climate change? 🤔 Yesterday, Nobel Prize laureate Joseph Stiglitz and former European Commission president José Manuel Durão Barroso discussed changing global policies on the green transition, and how #energy and climate have become volatile elements of the #political cycle at the 16th edition of Energy Prospectives ⚡, sponsored by the Naturgy Foundation. In the wake of recent EU elections that delivered sharp losses for green parties, Barroso warned of growing backlash against climate policies in Europe. Stiglitz pointed out that in the U.S., future policies will depend largely on the Trump-Biden face-off in November. After serving 15 years in the Nigerian Army, Unwana Etuk decided to resign and embark on a new chapter in his life. As an HSE practitioner, he was appointed as the HSE Manager of GLASSFORCE LIMITED, Nigeria. In 2018, he served as the HSE Project Manager for the furnace rebuild at GLASSFORCE LIMITED. Within two years, he was promoted to Consol Glass's "Africa Team" as SHE Manager Africa, overseeing HSE operations in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia. In 2019, he managed the start-up of Juniper Glass in Ethiopia. Due to his schedule and COVID-19, he was redeployed to Nigeria as Loss/Asset Control Manager. In 2020, he became Commercial Manager of Consol Glass Nigeria while supporting Africa HSE operations. In 2021, after Consol Glass was acquired by Ardagh Group, he became Plant Manager of Ardagh Glass Packaging Nigeria, the first Nigerian in this role. Due to economic challenges, Ardagh Glass - Africa restructured, and he was redeployed to Lagos as Commercial Manager, supporting sustainability.He has won several local and international awards for sustainable manufacturing and has held leadership roles in more than nine African countries. Despite his professional achievements, he felt that his MSc in Geography and Environmental Studies was insufficient for his career advancement and that was what led him to the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. He desired to obtain an MBA to prepare himself for future leadership roles. However, he was apprehensive about whether he could manage the demands of the programme alongside his tight work schedule. Joining the MBA - Lagos Business School programme proved to be a transformative experience for him. It demonstrated that he could successfully balance the rigorous demands of the programme with his professional responsibilities, reinforcing his commitment to continuous personal and professional growth. We are pleased to announce our agreement to buy world-leading Swedish glass recycler Svensk Glasåtervinning (SGÅ). SGÅ has collected and recycled glass packaging throughout Sweden for over 30 years and delivers the country’s impressive 90% glass recycling rate. The purchase will close a circle of almost 40 years: SGÅ was founded in 1986 by a company called PLM who, at that time, owned two glassworks in Sweden – one of which was in Limmared. In 2007, Ardagh purchased the Limmared glassworks, where glass packaging continues to be produced for world-leading brands.
