On the 7th of May the representative of Spanish UpHyMob Partner Grupo San Valero presented in Brussels the training developed within the framework of the European project UPHYMOB (Upskilling for H2 Mobility) in which the working group formed by 4 European countries has been working for the last two years creating a MOOC programme to qualify professionals in the field of hydrogen mobility. The Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has already granted €43 million in aid to the four municipalities affected by the future closure of the Los Barrios thermal power plant. Exciting news from the eMobility Expo World Congress 2024! The second edition has come to a close, solidifying the Valencian Community as a hub and strategic enclave in Southern Europe for sustainable mobility. Under the theme 'We are the future of eMobility', this global multistakeholder meeting has brought together 6,873 international congress attendees over three days to discover trends, challenges, and solutions in various segments of the mobility industry. The event has set the roadmap for a more sustainable, connected, autonomous, and safe mobility. With an economic impact of €16 million in the city of Valencia, the congress featured 219 exhibitors showcasing innovative solutions driving a paradigm shift in the sector, alongside 387 experts discussing the present and future challenges of mobility. The event addressed digital transformation in port management, emphasizing the importance of synchronization and integration with existing supply chains. The Alliance for the Use of Green Hydrogen in Aviation (AH2A) is celebrating one year of driving solutions to decarbonize air traffic! 🛫💚 In its recent General Assembly held in Madrid, AH2A reviewed the progress made over the past year, with participation from 41 entities. Focusing on green hydrogen deployment, AH2A explores production and supply methods, synthetic fuels, and hydrogen technologies in aircraft. "Green hydrogen deployment is pivotal in decarbonizing all sectors, especially in aviation, where energy alternatives are more limited," said Benito Núñez, Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport. With 41 entities involved, AH2A works across four task groups to identify renewable hydrogen production plans and demand estimates, including transportation to airports. In airports, renewable hydrogen will serve as an energy storage system and fuel for ground support vehicles. The synthetic fuels task group examines regulatory frameworks, production technologies, and distribution infrastructures, aiming to establish a value chain for synthetic aviation fuels. Additionally, the hydrogen technologies in aircraft group identifies technological developments for hydrogen-powered engines, advancing towards a regulatory framework for hydrogen use in aviation AH2A is a multidisciplinary effort led by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Aena, AESA, ALA, TEDAE, AOP, CNH2, Gasnam-Neutral Transport, INTA, PAE, and PTeH2. *Belgium commits to hydrogen trade following assumption of EU council presidency* Since January 1st 2024, Belgium has assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union. A strategic priority of the Belgian govenrment that has been put forward in the context of the council presidency is international hydrogen trade and more specifically the importing of the renewable energy source to the European Union, as an alternative to more polluting energy sources. Project UpHyMob has taken this opportunity to capitalise on the strategic transformation of the European Union energy market and has been at the forefront of innovation creating an open, online and free curriculum for H2 mobility workers. *Belgium & Netherlands to lead in Hydrogen imports* According to Westwood Global Energy Group, a market research and consultancy firm specialising in research in the field of the energy market, the Netherlands and Belgium seem to be the forefront of Hydrogen imports in Northwestern Europe. Given the capacity of the ports of Antwerp and the Hague as well as the rising demand for Hydrogen both in the industrial and the mobility sectors, this trend seems only logical to rise in the coming years, supporting the already evident integration of the green energy source in the market.
