🌍 Uponor celebrates Earth Day. 🌱 This year’s theme, Planet vs. Plastics, touches the very core of our business. A significant share of the carbon footprint of plastic raw materials is created during the upstream oil refinement process. To tackle this issue, we have invested heavily in developing more sustainable alternatives to fossil-based raw materials. Currently, our offering includes 11 Blue product categories which contain multiple individual products made from renewable raw materials. ♻️ We also work to improve the recyclability of our products when they reach the end of their useful life. In 2023, we managed to chemically recycle our PEX pipe manufacturing waste back to plastic raw material and produce the world’s first circular PEX pipe in cooperation with WasteWise Group Oy, Neste and Borealis. 📢 In 2022, we started a program to minimize and eventually phase out single-use plastic packaging. We are also committed to Operation Clean Sweep to ensure that all spilled plastic granules are cleaned up at once in our manufacturing sites. 💧Our employees share our commitment of tangibly contributing to a more sustainable future. For example, our colleagues around the world have taken part in clean-up events to keep plastic material out of waterbodies. #EarthDay #MovingWater #Sustainability

With wealth of experience in Public Policy, Strategic Management, Investment Promotion, Trade Facilitation, PR, Banking, and Consulting
The plastic waste problem is a big one that needs collective action globally. According to Ellen MacArthur Foundation, "cheap, light, and versatile, plastics are the dominant materials of our modern economy. Their production is expected to double over the next two decades. Yet only 14% of all plastic packaging is collected for recycling after use and vast quantities escape into the environment. This not only results in a loss of USD 80 to 120 billion per year, but if the current trend continues, there could be more plastic than fish (by weight) in the ocean by 2050." Our company, GreenRev Solutions Inc., seeks to deploy localized waste management solutions globally, starting with the Philippines. Through strategic partnerships and customer-driven waste collection model, GreenRev aims to increase waste recycling, promote environmental sustainability and enhance scope 3 emissions data analytics and ESG regulatory compliance. We look forward to engaging brand owners, retailers, sustainability organizations, waste diverters, government actors, and other stakeholders as we work together in building a more circular economy and in reducing plastic waste that ends up in landfills and oceans. #sustainability #plasticpollution #scope3emissions #circulareconomy #esg #sustainabilitystartup

We are proud to share with you that through our collaboration with Charter Next Generation (CNG), a leading independent producer of high-performance specialty films, we have managed to collect this 1st quarter of the year more than 30 metric tons of plastic wastes and prevented them from harming our oceans! CNG and the PLAF committed to a 3-year partnership to collect a total of 300 metric tons of plastic wastes which means we are diverting 100 metric tons of plastics annually! With the unwavering commitment to green mindset and recycling, we are almost near to achieving our goal of collecting a cumulative 300 metric tons of plastic wastes by the end of this year 2024! CNG takes pride in manufacturing the ultimate packaging protection that provides a sustainable solution with quality performance. They are devoted to environmental sustainability by ensuring that their films allow for recyclability, compostability, and the use of post-consumer resin all the while adhering to a process that maintains the lowest carbon footprint. Our partnership with CNG aims to reduce marine plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability with maximum social impact. The collection and recycling/upcycling of post-consumer plastic wastes enable the Plaf to produce eco-boards and provide livelihoods to our low-income workers to give them more opportunities. The researchers from the Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Plastics at the University of Oxford have outlined ambitious targets to help deliver a sustainable and net zero plastic economy. Currently, the global plastics system results in 1 Gigatonne per annum (Gt/annum) of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions which is the same as the total combined emissions of Europe’s three largest economies (UK, Germany and France). If left unchecked, these emissions could rise to 4-5 Gt/annum. A further problem is the lack of recycling. In 2019 only 9% of the world's plastic waste was turned into new products through mechanical recycling. The majority ended up in landfills or was incinerated and a significant proportion was mismanaged, ending up polluting terrestrial and marine ecosystems. #plastics #plasticpollution #ecosystem
