After 15 freelance projects, here’s what I’ve learned: 1. *New Challenges, New Skills* 🚀 Clients often request features I’ve never tackled before. These challenges push me to grow, and there’s nothing more satisfying than delivering something I initially thought was out of reach. 2. *Confidence Through Communication* 🤝 Open communication pro-active is crucial in my dealings with clients. It’s how I establish trust and win jobs. Explaining the process and keeping clients in the loop are ways through which I ensure that they are confident in choosing my services. 3. *Diving Into Existing Code* 🔍 Sometimes, I’m hired to patch bugs or add extra functionalities to an existing project. This involves understanding another person’s code; making it better or using that code to add new features is a skill I’ve honed over time. 4. *Turning Feedback into Growth* 🔄 Every feedback received be it negative or positive has helped me work on my approach correctly. It’s just part of learning. 5. *Effective Time Management* ⏳ If one must handle a lot of projects simultaneously, he or she should learn time management skills. Timeboxing and setting clear priorities help to meet deadlines all the time. #FreelanceLife #ClientSuccess #ContinuousLearning #ProjectManagement #ProblemSolving

Trading in my corporate desk for the open road of freelancing. A question kept gnawing at me: would my voice be heard? Turns out, this past month has been a whirlwind of interactions and voicing my opinions, surpassing everything I experienced in two years at my previous job. From the quiet desk dweller to a constant presence in meetings, sharing my ideas and having them valued - the transformation is thrilling. I could sense the doubt, ("She doesn't even talk, how will she pull this off?") But honestly, even I wasn't sure. I still don't know if I will ever "pull it off". One thing I vouch for is: when you set your mind to something and give it your all, nothing can stop you. This is just the beginning of a long journey, and I'm already buzzing with anticipation for the ups and downs that await. Remember, when you pursue your passion wholeheartedly, even your own perceived limitations can't hold you back. #freelancewriter #contentstrategist #personaldevelopment

I often hear people say "how well you can explain a topic shows how well you know that topic." I disagree. When I first got started in freelancing, I used to think that too. But I’ve learned that communicating technical concepts to non-technical clients is not as straightforward. I used to assume the client had the same background as me (I know, silly mistake). I also thought “if I just slow down my words, maybe they will get it.” Over the years I developed my skill in this area. Still a work in progress, but now it’s much easier for me to communicate technical topics. Here are three things have helped me: 1. Talk in everyday language - like I’m talking to a friend in a casual setting. Avoid technical jargon that is not in my client’s area of expertise. If the niche word is not avoidable, then educate them instead of assuming. 2. Use different communication tools to account for different types of learners (visual, auditory, etc). For example, show a diagram or a sketch instead of talking through it all. 3. Connect things to the bigger picture or objective. Explain the benefits. If you’re a non-technical entrepreneur or marketer, how have others made it easier to discuss a technical concept?

Writing a post gets easier, When you get through your mind like this 👇 Think of all the experiences you have had, - Project collaboration - Freelancing journey - Struggles and Challenges - Learnings and Opportunities Make them into a story format and share it with world. It connects the people. While you are trying to generate leads, - Testimonials - Work samples - Project success - Numbers and Results - Your strategy/Approach - Behind the scenes It’s too simple if you don’t make it complicated.

"I initially felt like I was making progress, but later realized I was actually moving backward." When I started my freelance video editing journey four months ago, I was on fire—constantly improving, learning, and innovating to attract clients. My efforts paid off. I landed multiple clients, received positive feedback, and felt confident that I was moving forward. But then, I hit a wall. I stopped upgrading my skills and fell into the trap of comfort. I thought, “I’m getting clients, so I must be doing great.” What I didn’t realize was that I wasn’t growing anymore—I was actually going backward. Here’s what I learned from this experience: 1️⃣ Exploring new niches opens up fresh perspectives. 2️⃣ The comfort zone is deceptive—it gives the illusion of progress but hinders real growth. 3️⃣ Learning something small every day and applying it to your work is key to staying ahead. 4️⃣ Seek inspiration from experts in your field—they’ve walked the path you’re on. #Freelance #Videoediting #Continuouslearning

Since becoming a freelance arts and community engagement producer, and working several projects alone, with no team or colleagues to bounce ideas off and no consistent workplace to go to, it has not been free of challenges. How do I know the decisions I am making will work?! How can I trust myself enough to press the go button without consulting anyone else? How do I manoeuvre clients and myself through difficult upfront negotiations and conversations!? Having been lucky enough to have had a career mentor recently as well as a therapist, and some time to really work on my own self trust- both professionally and personally- I can truly feel and notice the benefits of taking a pause, listening to yourself, trusting your taste, your values, your gut, and from this, you create work you are aligned with, you create work that you have built from the ground up, channelled by the trust of yourself and your clients, and the trust of doing the work you trained and worked so so hard for years to get to and believe in. If any freelancers ever want to chat through decision making, brainstorming, or just speak about that often niggling voice inside saying 'is this the right thing to do' or, 'how do I reply to a challenging email or face a tough meeting' when you have only yourself in the room to cheerlead you- then let's chat!!

If you're learning many freelance skills but not becoming an expert in one, you're diluting your potential. You may feel like you're expanding your opportunities, but you're spreading yourself thin. You may think versatility is your strength, but it's holding you back from true mastery. Once you recognize this, you can focus your efforts and develop the deep expertise that clients truly value.
