Most people feel a lot of overwhelm but don't actually produce much. I produce a ridiculous amount and rarely feel overwhelmed. Here are 5 tactics I use to be hella productive (#5 is the key): 1. I start my week by writing a total to-do list. I start my day by writing a daily list composed of items from my weekly list. 2. I set 3 goals for the week. I can't go home until they're complete. 3. I only take meetings 2 days a week, the other 3 days are for deep work. 4. I focus on what I'm great at and outsource / delegate the rest. 5. This is the big one: I practice Parkinson's Law for EVERY TASK I PERFORM. Parkinson's Law states: "Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion." - C. Northcote Parkinson What this means for me: There is a 10 hour version of a task and a 10 minute version of a task. The version I am going to make is dictated by the time box I assign to it. My timeboxing calculation: 1 Day = 10 boxes 1 Task = 0.5 - 5 boxes (based on value of activity) Giving 1 tasks more boxes reduces boxes left for other tasks, so it's all about managing your time to reduce time spent on low value tasks. So plan your week, plan your day, timebox your daily tasks, and don't quit working until the boxes are checked.

What do I want to talk about today ? I suppose guilt..... I have to acknowledge I am as guilty as the next person just being present in the now or effectively personal averse work related presenteeism whilst carrying-on regardless grinding the handle of everyday like, you know, same poo different day everyday so, no wonder, I/we loose track of what day it is in the 21st Digital Century of sleep procrastination and work/life fatigue - manic hahaha Anyway seems that this apathetic condition is far from new as Socrates proposed "the unexamined life is not worth living" and we all need to join the "Self-Preservation Society" as our quality of life continues to slip away whilst we do nothing rather than something, anything but, nothing to look after ourselves better in this, so called, Decade of Health Government Nudge Campaign.......... Starting by getting more involved in our kids nurturing to support their wellbeing in addition to addressing our own bad habits resulting in predictable ill-health as we, sort of, expediently ignore the known known hazards and risks. Ever learnt the 5mins rule? Do you have a crazy schedule that leaves you feeling tensed up literally all the time? This feeling can make you lash out at others, transfer aggression, make you lose critical connections and relationships including clients and customers. So how can you help it? Steal out 5mins from your daily schedule, where you just sit or stand in the toilet, kitchen, store or anywhere you can be alone and enjoy some quiet. Breath in and out and just listen to your heart beat. This helps reliefs the tension in your mind and body and calms you long enough to think clearly and give an appropriate response.
