Case Study: The problem: Montgomery County, Maryland had badly corroded underground stormwater quality infrastructure, many of which are falling in on themselves. Constrained access into the structures is another hurdle that had to be overcome. The solution: BMP’s innovative Split SNOUTs were used to replace the existing corroded infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/gDVNd4xZ #stormwater #trashcapture #bmphood #civilengineering #bestmanagementproducts

Check out these fun facts about CVC's Smart Blue Roof.
🌧️ According to the Toronto Star, Pearson Airport recorded 511 mm of rainfall between June and August. This makes 2024 the rainiest summer on record. 🌿 Credit Valley Conservation has been operating its smart blue roof throughout these record-breaking summer months, and this first season of operation has proven that this pilot project is an effective strategy for stormwater management 🌊 and flood mitigation 🌱. Between August 18th and September 6th, 92 mm of rainfall (equivalent to 32,000 L) was captured and stored by CVC’s smart blue roof. This harvested rainwater was utilized in numerous ways, including: Where did the water go? 💧 51% was lost through evaporation. 🚽 42% was used for supplying non-potable water to toilets. 🌦️ 7% was released to the storm sewer system during dry-weather conditions. As data continues to be collected 📊, we will also be investigating how this system can alleviate surcharging in undersized storm sewers 🌐. Additionally, we will calculate how much money can be saved on domestic water 💧 and energy use ⚡ through rainwater harvesting and evaporative cooling, respectively. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! 🙋♂️ Toronto Star Article: Toronto breaks record for most-wet summer in city’s history (thestar.com) Phil James, Kyle Vander Linden,Alexandra Veglio,Bernadeta Surowiec (M.Eng., M.Env.Sc.),Kyle Menken,Amanda Slaght,James Cowan #SmartBlueRoof #StormWaterManagement #InnovativeSolutions #IntegratedWaterManagement #Flood
