Sustainability is in our roots. 🌲 We're thrilled to see Populus featured Forbes, highlighting the hotel's One Night, One Tree program. For every night’s stay, a tree will be planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation, contributing up to 20,000 trees in Colorado this year. This initiative is part of our broader strategy to offset the hotel’s carbon footprint through regenerative practices, 100% renewable electricity, and turning food waste into compost for local farmers. By integrating sustainability into every aspect of Populus, we’re not only enhancing the guest experience but also making a meaningful impact on the environment. Urban Villages president Jon Buerge says it best, "Populus represents a new model for environmentally forward hospitality. We considered sustainability at every stage of the hotel’s development from its nature inspired design and construction practices to its operations and substantial offsite ecological initiatives. Our One Night, One Tree program invites guests to play a tangible role in this effort by planting trees in our own backyard with each stay." I can never say enough about how proud I am to not only represent Town and Country Resort, the coolest, most non-vanilla "Best Resort" in San Diego*, but also to be part of an organization that is excited, aware, and actively engaged in improving Sustainability. Most of us have no idea what Sustainability means. So here are the basics because Sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it’s about meeting the needs of today without compromising tomorrow. 🌍 It’s about balancing economic, environmental, and social considerations for long-term well-being. 🌱 Key pillars of sustainability: 1️⃣ Environmental Protection: Reducing waste, conserving energy and water, protecting biodiversity, and limiting pollution. 2️⃣ Social Responsibility: Ensuring fair labor practices, promoting equity, and supporting community well-being. 3️⃣ Economic Viability: Creating business models that foster long-term growth without depleting resources. In the hospitality industry, sustainability means energy-efficient operations, reducing waste, sourcing sustainably, and ensuring the well-being of employees and guests. 💼 By integrating these principles, we can create lasting value for both people and the planet. #Sustainability #SustainableHospitality #GreenBusiness #FutureReady #townandcountryresort #coraltree *Reader's Choice Award 2024

What is Sustainable Living? Sustainable living refers to making choices and adopting habits that reduce our environmental impact and promote the health of our planet. It encompasses a range of practices, from minimizing waste and conserving energy to supporting local economies and using renewable resources. The essence of sustainable living is to meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. One practical way to embrace sustainable living is through conscious consumption. This involves choosing products that are eco-friendly, supporting local farmers, and opting for reusable or biodegradable materials. Additionally, reducing energy usage by switching to energy-efficient appliances and utilizing natural light can significantly lower your carbon footprint. Another crucial aspect is sustainable transportation. Walking, biking, or using public transport can help decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, incorporating green spaces and community gardens into urban areas not only enhances biodiversity but also provides residents with fresh produce. At our self-sustainable city project, we’re committed to fostering a lifestyle that embodies these principles. By integrating permaculture, renewable energy, and community engagement, we aim to create a harmonious environment for all.
