This journey, spearheaded nearly three years ago, has been a testament to visionary leadership and collaborative effort. Heartfelt congratulations to my co-VPs Allan, Camille, Martin , Bjørn Allentoft, and Iben in DEAS Group. Your leadership, strategic foresight, and executive support have been crucial. This innocuous scribble kickstarted it all ✏️ It feels like yesterday The year was 2014 and I’d just been announced as CP’s new CEO Turning over circa £15m from our East Mids heartland, we were doing nicely But we weren’t setting the world on fire 🔥 I then sketched this On a bog-standard flip chart, the marker was laid down Ambitiously, we set 3 monumental goals 🚀 To grow 10 X in 10 years 🥇  To be the #1 employer in the UK 📍 To have major presence in Birmingham, London and Manchester It was big ask. I mean a seriously big ask But we all loved that (and shrugged off the eye rolls and sniggers from some quarters) FF 9 years of a real roller coaster ride 🎢 Along the way, there’ve been many highs and many lows too Even times when I doubted we’d hit our ambitious Northstar at all But now, ahead of the decade timeline, and thanks to so many brilliant people: 📈 We’ve smashed through the 10 X growth target – one year early 🏆  We were named the #1 best place to work in Europe 🌇 And with five superhubs (Sky View, Birmingham, London, Thames Valley and Manchester), we’re caning it across the UK I reckon that by the end of 2025 we’ll have doubled our target to smash £300m - 2 X the original target But you know what, I’m most excited about the next 5 years As our 2030 vision takes shape, I get goosebumps just thinking about it We have an awesome team of talent on board Our clients drive us to keep raising the bar And we’re creating a truly sustainable next gen professional services group You never know, when I scribble my next flipchart, it might have a cheeky £1bn on it. 😉 #RebelsOfAccountancy #TimesTen #Vision #NextGen #WhatATeam

An interesting take on how the very successful family behind household names such as Saab, Electrolux Group, Ericsson, ABB, and substantial stakes in EQT Group and Nasdaq are trying to engineer a seamless transfer from the 5th to 6th Generation family members. Amazingly in this day and age, this is potentially the first time women will be involved in their leadership. Some great lessons for other families which are going through a succession process; 💥 They have divided their governance structure into 3 buckets - family, business and foundation. The 6th generation are given observer roles on a rotational basis on all the councils to see what interests them most. 💥 6th generation family members are now accompanying the current leaders on their global trips to take advantage of their contacts and networks. 💥 2/3rds of the next generation have observer roles in one of their 16 foundations, hence providing a great bench from which talent can emerge. 💥 By removing Money from the equation (through a complex ownership structure where their foundations own the family stakes in the business) they have tried to remove one of the main motivators of family disputes. Will they succeed? Time will tell, however on balance their process looks like it has all the necessary ingredients for a successful transition. #familybusiness #succession

Future-Proofing Nomination Committees In collaboration with Nasdaq, deb. recently hosted a unique event bringing together Sweden’s leading nomination committee members and board chairs. With representatives from 9 of the 10 key players with the most nomination committee assignments, we explored how to ensure boards are equipped to create long-term value in a rapidly evolving world. Key insights: ✔️ Future board competence: By 2025, boards need skills to navigate complexity and drive success. ✔️ AI in governance: AI can enhance board evaluations, streamline processes, and uncover strategic insights. ✔️ Diversity & succession planning: A minimum of 30% diverse representation is crucial for impactful change. The event featured a keynote by Peter Kurzwelly (AI Sweden) on AI trends and a panel moderated by our Hanna Moisander with: ✨ Patricia Hedelius - Nomination committee member and fund manager AMF. ✨ Anna Magnusson - Ownership Manager, Första AP-fonden. ✨ Jon Risfelt - Chair of Knowit, Axentia Group, and CAB Group; 2024 Guldklubban nominee. ✨ Per Berggren - Chair of Castellum and Fondamentor. ✨ Regina Sipos - Chair of Frilans Finans, Peafowl Plasmonics AB, and Mindmore. Learnings from this morning included the importance of evaluating nomination committees themselves, combining qualitative and quantitative board evaluations, and planning for both immediate and long-term succession needs. AI and data-driven insights can also help boards stay ahead of external trends.
