Connect with the Right People: Starting from scratch without any financial backing or family connections can be challenging, but it’s entirely possible to succeed with the right approach. In the fashion industry, clients often rely on stylists to curate and produce shoots, making them valuable contacts for aspiring photographers and filmmakers. By networking with stylists and showcasing your talents, you can establish yourself as a reliable collaborator, opening doors to opportunities despite starting with limited resources. 2. Build a Strong Portfolio: When you’re starting with little to no funds, building a portfolio can seem daunting, but it’s essential for gaining traction in the industry. Diversifying your portfolio is key, as it demonstrates your versatility and attracts a broader range of clients. While editorials may offer exposure, the real growth and financial stability often come from campaigns and advertisements. Starting small by collaborating with emerging brands or artists allows you to showcase your skills while gradually expanding your portfolio, even if it means investing your own money to a certain extent. 3. Collaborate Wisely: It’s crucial to navigate the fine line between collaboration and exploitation, especially when you’re starting from scratch. While collaboration is essential for growth, it’s essential to ensure that you’re not being taken advantage of in the name of exposure. Clearly defining the terms of collaboration, such as limiting the number of garments featured or setting boundaries, helps maintain a fair and respectful partnership. By prioritizing mutual benefit and ethical practices, you can build positive relationships and avoid exploitation in your journey towards success in the fashion industry. Project Overview: I'm excited to share my project "CyberGlam", which I hosted and directed in 2023. This project showcases a futuristic approach to creating stunning magazine covers without the need for physical props or expensive designer outfits. Collaboration: I had the pleasure of collaborating with a talented team of professionals. Aneesha Raj, a professional fashion photographer, brought her expertise in working with prominent brands and models. Rafsana Beegam and Amrutha Saju, top-tier models from South India, lent their talents, having worked with top brands and influencer content. Janaki G, a prosthetic makeup artist, contributed her skills, having received titles in UK-based short films. Additionally, Dimpal Bhal, a reality TV show contestant, provided valuable insights on styling and visual appeal. Creative Process: By leveraging 3D and AI technology, I was able to collaborate with models in innovative ways, reducing production costs by 70%. This approach allowed me to push the boundaries of fashion and explore new possibilities. Project Highlights: The project's futuristic concepts, inspired by my art page, explore the potential of future fashion and its pros and cons.
