This is exactly what the nuclear industry needs to move on: leadership like Craig Piercy facilitating discussions about the reality of the fuel cycle and waste management that is now rooted in community moving forward. This comes in tandem with the DOE’s efforts to implement community-defined Consent Based Siting as nuclear energy emerges into a renaissance era (for real this time?!). Normally, it would be a lesser power that balances or bandwagons with a greater power. Arguably, Beijing’s relationship with Pyongyang has been anything but normal. #Nuclear weapons are terrifying, for good reason. While the full report of our Project Ploughshares consultation on feminist approaches to human (in)security in outer space last year isn't online yet (sorry!) it's clear that a) escalation of conflict from space to Earth and b) environmental contamination of the space are viewed as key sources of human harm. The use of nuclear weapons in outer space is tied to both of these risks.
